The US President said the Pentagon is now working to establish a space force.

"China has started doing this, Russia has started to create aerospace units. But we have the best people in the world. We produce the best equipment in the world, we make the best missiles, tanks and ships in the world," the head of the White House said.

However, some experts, including former leaders at the Pentagon, have expressed doubts about the effectiveness of Trump's decision, as the de facto US space force has been operating for years within the Air Force and the country's Strategic Command.

Currently, international treaties only prohibit the deployment of weapons of mass destruction in space.
