Venezuelan President Attacked While Giving Speech
Venezuelan President Nicolas Maduro's live televised speech at a military event on August 5 was cut short due to an attack on him.

According to RT, TV footage showed Maduro and several officials standing behind him looking up at the sky for a few seconds before the speech was cut short. The camera panned to a wide angle, showing soldiers who had been gathered in a line suddenly breaking ranks and running away. The live broadcast was then cut off.

Venezuela's Information Minister confirmed that the President was attacked while speaking at a military ceremony. Several drones loaded with C-4 explosives exploded near the area where the President was standing.
“All investigations show that it was an attack on President Nicholas Maduro,” Mr. Rodriguez told reporters.
President Maduro has been taken to safety and is still carrying out his duties.
Seven soldiers were wounded in the attempted assassination, Rodriguez said. However, it was not disclosed how the soldiers were injured.
