Previously, on December 9 at the Normandy Summit, Russian President Putin, when referring to the new contract on gas transportation and supply, quoted a sentence from a spelling book: "And we have hot air in the apartment, what about you?...And you will have it." At the same time, Mr. Putin also reiterated Russia's proposal to supply gas directly to Ukraine. This will help reduce the cost for consumers by 25%.

Responding to that question from the Russian President, in the political TV program of channel "1+1" (Ukraine), President Zelensky said: "And we have a gas pipeline. And it is in a state of balance."

The Ukrainian leader expressed confidence in extending the contract for gas transit from Russia to Europe through Ukrainian territory from January 1, 2020.

"I think we will come to a normal agreement, negotiations will resume. For some reason, I am sure that we will sign an agreement on gas transit," President Zelensky said.

President Zelensky added that the contract would be signed based on economic interests of both sides, not politics. To prove this, the Ukrainian leader quoted the original poem by writer Sergei Mikhailov: "And we have hot air in the apartment! And you? - We have water! That's all!"
