UN Secretary-General Ban Ki Moon strongly condemned the bombing that killed more than 300 people in Afghanistan.

United Nations Secretary-General Ban Ki Moon yesterday (April 19) strongly condemned the bloody bombing in the Afghan capital Kabul, and sent his deepest condolences to the families of the victims.

He said the international community needs to unite against these terrorist attacks: “First of all, I would like to express my deepest condolences to the victims and their families. I also strongly condemn the terrorist bombings targeting the Afghan people. There is no justification for attacks on civilians and security forces. We need to step up the fight against terrorist attacks.”

Earlier the same day, leaders of many countries around the world also strongly condemned the attack on Afghanistan.

Pakistani Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif on the same day offered to coordinate with Afghanistan to deal with the common terrorist threat, and expressed his deep condolences to President Ghani for the losses and damage caused by this "heinous" terrorist attack.

Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi, the US Embassy in Afghanistan, and the United Nations Assistance Mission in Afghanistan also issued statements condemning the attack.

On April 19, a suicide bomber detonated a truck loaded with explosives in a parking lot next to a government building in the Pul-e-Mahmood Khan area, near the Presidential Palace and the Defense Ministry headquarters, opening the way for gunmen to enter the building and engage in a gun battle with security forces. The attack killed at least 28 people and injured more than 300 others. The Taliban claimed responsibility for the attack./.
