Aiming to identify the most popular performance cars globally, Confused.com analyzed Google search data over the past 12 months. From this research, they found that the Audi R8 was searched 22.53 million times, despite being released in 2006 and now discontinued.

Closely following the Audi R8 is the Lamborghini Urus with 20.06 million searches, even though it's a high-performance SUV rather than a traditional supercar. The Urus's popularity marks the initial success of this product line, demonstrating Lamborghini's shrewdness in venturing into the high-riding vehicle segment.

Taking third place on the list is the BMW i8 with 18.43 million Google searches, ahead of the Toyota Supra (17.26 million), Ford Mustang (16.65 million), Nissan GT-R (15.54 million), Porsche 911 (15.48 million), Lamborghini Aventador (11.555 million), Bugatti Chiron (10.98 million), and Lamborghini Huracan (8.4 million).

Unsurprisingly, Lamborghini proved to be the most popular performance car manufacturer with over 58 million brand searches. This far surpasses BMW with 26.7 million searches and Ferrari with 25.3 million annual searches on Google. Other popular brands include Porsche (25.1 million searches), Audi (22.9 million searches), Nissan (22.8 million searches), Ford (22.3 million searches), McLaren (21.7 million searches), Bugatti (17.4 million searches), and Toyota with 17.2 million searches.
