Pham Thi My Chau (born 1987) is a contestant from Nghe An who just returned from the "Crescent Moon Beauty" contest in 2015. At this contest, Chau was in the top 10 contestants in the final round, did not win a high position but for Chau it is always a source of pride and motivation to continue to strive in life.

In the second floor room in Block 6B, Cua Nam Ward (Vinh City), the young girl is diligently working on making flowers. Pausing, My Chau said: "Tet is coming, customers have started ordering flowers so I have to hurry up, otherwise if it's too close, I'm afraid I won't be able to finish in time." Then her smooth, skillful hands continue working on the crystal petals, while working, Chau chats with customers.
“There was a time when I fell into despair because I knew I could not walk on my feet, adapting to the new situation was really difficult. But then, with the care and sharing of my loved ones and friends, I built up the determination not to surrender to fate” - My Chau began her story about her life.

That day, 7 years ago, My Chau was 22 years old, had just graduated from Nghe An College of Economics and Finance and was about to start working, with many good things ahead. On the way to Thanh Chuong to visit a close friend, the car had an accident, Chau was seriously injured. The doctor concluded that Chau had broken 2 vertebrae in her back (7th and 8th vertebrae), which meant that both legs would be paralyzed.
Pham Thi My Chau fainted and woke up countless times, thinking about the prospect of sitting in a wheelchair for the rest of her life, Chau's tears streamed down, she had no interest in eating or drinking. Chau was in pain when thinking about the future. Many people were there to encourage and comfort Chau, hoping that she would soon overcome it, but the harsh and cruel reality was too much for a young girl to bear.
The beauty of "Crescent Moon"
When facing herself, Chau thinks a lot about the life around her, thinks about her parents' sadness, thinks about the people she has met, including those who are less fortunate than her but they still overcome their fate. Chau still feels the youth and youthfulness in her heart, the desire for life suddenly arises.

Her friends helped her return to the outside world, taking her to meaningful exchanges, helping her feel more confident. Gradually, it became a spiritual need for the young disabled girl, the exchanges brought My Chau joy and love of life, and were the motivation for Chau to overcome adversity.
My Chau wanted to have something to do, to reduce the burden on her parents, to find joy, to forget the sadness that was haunting her life. Chau learned to embroider, putting her faith, love and optimism in life into every stitch. Chau's paintings were introduced by friends and were loved by many people, and every embroidered picture was asked to be bought.

Then the disabled girl switched to making crystal flowers, the flower petals made by My Chau's skillful hands were welcomed by customers, mainly young people. During holidays, the demand of customers increased, sometimes there was not enough work. The job not only brought income, but also suited her health condition, and brought more joy, My Chau loved life more and more.
Recently, she has also become familiar with business, introducing products on the Internet and participating in the Prudential insurance business. Work is always busy so there is no time to be sad, helping that unfortunate young girl become an active person. My Chau shared: "Now, work has put me in a cycle, where I find joy and happiness."

Confidence in social relationships helped Pham Thi My Chau be chosen to become the representative face of Vietnam to go to Japan to exchange with disabled people from some Asian countries in 2014. Here, she met, interacted with and witnessed people who were less fortunate but they still rose up to assert themselves with intelligence, talent and will to live.
In 2015, My Chau participated in the “Beauty of the Crescent Moon” contest. By participating in the contest, Chau wanted to affirm the will, courage, beauty of the soul and intelligence of a person from Nghe An, and at the same time affirm the determination and strength of a disabled person. At the same time, she hoped that society would open its arms of compassion to help them stand firm in life.

In the talent round, Pham Thi My Chau performed the song “Mother’s Love” by Nguyen Nhat Huy. With a deep voice, filled with love and gratitude for her mother, My Chau was applauded by the audience. Chau explained: “I sing this song because I am always grateful to my mother, who has stood by my side and accompanied me through pain, disappointment and joy.”
Spring has begun to “knock on the door”, the space is gradually changing its color, the rhythm of life everywhere is bustling and exciting. In her small room, Pham Thi My Chau is continuing to be absorbed in her paintings and flower vases, her pure hands and soul are contributing to creating a radiant Spring and Spring, like a shining crescent moon.
