Tottenham extend their unbeaten run at home.
Despite missing their main striker due to injury in their opening match, Tottenham still secured three points at home with a 2-1 victory over Southampton on the evening of March 19th.
Tottenham secured the victory in the first half, with Christian Eriksen and Dele Alli scoring in the 12th and 33rd minutes respectively. Southampton mounted a strong comeback in the second half, but all the visitors could manage was a consolation goal from James Ward-Prowse in the 52nd minute.
With this victory, Tottenham continues to hold the record as the only team in the Premier League this season that remains undefeated at home. Specifically, at White Hart Lane, they have played 15 matches since the start of the season, winning 13 and drawing only two.

This was the first in a series of matches where Tottenham had to play without Harry Kane. The top scorer, with 19 goals in the Premier League this season, suffered an ankle injury early in the FA Cup match against Millwall on March 12 and will be out of action for at least six weeks.
Coach Pochettino opted for a 3-6-1 formation with Son Heung-min positioned as the furthest forward. However, unlike the emphatic 6-0 victory against Millwall where Son scored a hat-trick, today the South Korean striker was primarily used as a decoy, moving around and stretching the opposing defense, creating space for the two main strikers.Alli and Eriksen, playing highest up in midfield, took shots.
This tactic quickly paid off, with Eriksen unleashing a powerful shot from about 25 meters, beating goalkeeper Forster in the 14th minute. This was the Danish midfielder's 13th goal from outside the penalty area in the Premier League since joining Tottenham in September 2013, more than any other player in the same period.
In the 33rd minute, Tottenham doubled their lead after Steven Davis fouled Dele Alli inside the penalty area, and the young home star made no mistake in converting the penalty.

Southampton also had a chance, but their attacks lacked sharpness after losing their main striker Manuel Gabiadini to injury in the 32nd minute. The only goal the visitors scored, in the 52nd minute, came from a mistake by Tottenham defender Alderweireld, who failed to stop Bertrand's cross, indirectly giving Ward-Prowse the opportunity to score.
With a 2-1 victory, Tottenham earned three points and narrowed the gap with league leaders Chelsea to 10 points after 29 rounds. It will be difficult for them to challenge for the title with such a points difference, but the win will boost the confidence of Pochettino's team in maintaining their stability and second-place position, facing fierce competition from Man City, Liverpool, and even Man Utd, who have only played 27 matches.
