The 2019 Toyota Avalon has many new features inspired by its "younger brother" the 2018 Camry. The car will be sold in the US market later this spring.

The 2019 Toyota Avalon has just appeared at the Detroit exhibition with many significant changes. The car is developed based on Toyota's global platform applied on the new generation Prius and Camry.

The 2019 Toyota Avalon has a 50.8 mm longer wheelbase, is 18 mm longer, has a 25.4 mm lower height and a 20.3 mm wider width. The Japanese automaker says the increased length increases rear seat space with an additional 177.8 mm in length.

The car's design is inspired by its "younger brother" Camry with many strong cuts. The XSE and Touring variants have a sportier appearance with black details, spoilers, 4 exhaust pipes, and rear diffuser. Thanks to that, the drag coefficient of Avalon 2019 is reduced from 0.28 to 0.27 Cd.

The TNGA platform allows the 2019 Avalon to be offered with a multi-link rear suspension. The higher-end Touring trim gets adaptive suspension, which automatically selects the right damping level in 20 milliseconds. The TNGA platform also helps with noise cancellation, along with improved door and sound insulation. The Touring trim adds an engine sound enhancement system and active noise control.

The 2019 Toyota Avalon comes standard with a 3.5L V6 engine, dual fuel injection D4-S. Toyota did not release detailed specifications, only saying the engine is more powerful than the previous generation. PageAutoblogThe engine is expected to be similar to the Camry, with 301 horsepower and 362 Nm of torque. The engine sends power to the front wheels through an 8-speed automatic transmission.

The most notable change inside is the Entune 3.0 infotainment system, which is similar to the 2018 Camry. It includes a 9-inch touchscreen, a variety of connectivity options, and the Scout GPS navigation system. The 2019 Avalon also comes standard with Apple CarPlay, making it the first Toyota to offer this technology.

The car is equipped with a wireless phone charger and 5 USB ports. Remote Connect technology allows users to lock/unlock the car doors, check fuel levels or start the engine remotely. Dual analog clock cluster, with a 7-inch central electronic screen. The 10-inch wide windshield display system is said to be the largest in the segment.

The 2019 Toyota Avalon has two driving modes, normal and sport. The top-of-the-line Touring trim has more, with five driving modes, eco, normal, sport, sportier, and custom (user-defined). All modes affect the steering, throttle, and transmission.

Full safety technology with 10 airbags, automatic emergency braking, pedestrian detection, adaptive cruise control, lane keeping assist and blind spot warning. If that's not enough, you can choose to add a 360 camera, parking sensors and automatic braking when there is an obstacle behind. The car goes on sale in the US market late this spring.
