New generation Toyota Camry priced from 23,500 USD

The 8th generation sedan is sold in the US with 2 versions: gasoline and hybrid, expected to be sold from early September.

The new generation Camry was first introduced to the public at the 2017 Detroit Auto Show in January. The sedan has an upgraded design, is equipped with more technology and focuses on driving experience.

The 2018 Camry is based on Toyota's TNGA platform, which has been used on models such as the Prius and C-HR. The chassis structure is 30% stiffer, while the wheelbase is 48mm longer than the previous version, making the interior more spacious.

The highest-end 2018 Camry XSE version costs nearly 35,000 USD.

The 8th generation sedan uses a new 2.5-liter Dynamic Force 4-cylinder engine with VVT-i combined with VVT-iE, direct fuel injection, capacity of 206 horsepower, torque of 252 Nm. This engine is also equipped on the Hybrid version, producing capacity of 176 horsepower, torque of 221 Nm.

The higher-end version uses a 3.5-liter V6 engine, 301 horsepower, 362 Nm of torque. Both the 2.5 and 3.5 V6 gasoline engines are equipped with a new 8-speed automatic transmission, while the Hybrid version still uses a CVT transmission.

Toyota says the Camry Hybrid gets pretty good fuel economy, with an EPA rating of 50 mpg city, 50 mpg highway, and 50 mpg combined. The hybrid engine in the 2018 Camry is lighter than the outgoing model thanks to a smaller, lighter power controller and improved DC-DC converter.

Safety equipment on the 2018 Camry includes automatic braking when detecting objects ahead, radar cruise control, lane departure warning, and cross-traffic warning.

More spacious interior thanks to 48 mm longer wheelbase.

The interior uses the new Entune 3.0 information system developed by Toyota. Other convenient features include remote vehicle start, automatic locking and unlocking, car finder, vehicle status notification, rear seat entertainment screen and additional wifi feature.

According to plan, Toyota Camry 2018 will be sold from September with 9 gasoline engine versions, priced from 23,500 USD, the highest version XSE V6 priced at nearly 35,000 USD. Meanwhile, Camry Hybrid 2018 priced from 27,800 USD with 3 versions to choose from.
