Toyota Fortuner 2016 adds new engine options.

The new generation of this mid-size SUV features an upgraded design that is more youthful and somewhat more upscale, along with a range of diesel and petrol engine options.

Toyota will launch the next generation of the Fortuner in Thailand on July 17th. The Japanese automaker is keeping details about the SUV under wraps, but the first glimpses of its features have already appeared online.

The 2016 version features changes to the body structure, chassis, and a refreshed exterior and interior, enhancing its premium feel. Beyond the exterior, the car is also upgraded with new engine options, including two diesel engines and one petrol engine.

The 2016 Toyota Fortuner in Thailand comes in four diesel variants and two transmission options: a 6-speed manual and a 6-speed automatic. The specific variants are the 2.4G 4x2 6MT, 2.4V 4x2 6AT, 2.8V 4x2 6AT, and 2.8V 4x4 6AT.

While the diesel versions come with a variety of transmission and drivetrain options, the petrol version is limited to just one: the 2.7V 4x2 6AT. The top-of-the-line diesel version comes with all-wheel drive, while the rest use rear-wheel drive. A 6-speed manual transmission is only available for the lowest-spec diesel version; the others use a 6-speed automatic transmission.

Specific power specifications for each version include a 2.4-liter turbocharged four-cylinder engine producing 150 horsepower and 343 Nm of torque. A 2.8-liter turbocharged four-cylinder offers 177 horsepower and 420 Nm, or a higher 450 Nm. A 2.7-liter four-cylinder VVT-i gasoline engine delivers 122 horsepower and 245 Nm.

The vehicle is equipped with advanced technologies such as a keyless smart start system, Start/Stop button, knee airbags, ABS anti-lock braking system with EBD emergency brake assist and BA brake assist. Additionally, it features VSC electronic stability control, HAC hill-start assist, and an emergency lighting system.
