According to a representative of Toyota Vietnam, Toyota Fortuner may arrive in Vietnam in a new shipment at the end of June 2018.

According to Mr. Pham Anh Tuan - General Director of Strategic Planning of Toyota Vietnam (TMV), the batch of Toyota cars including models such as: Yaris, Hilux and the popular 7-seat SUV - Toyota Fortuner will arrive in Vietnam around the end of June 2018.

Currently, Toyota Fortuner 2017 in Vietnam has become scarce in recent months due to a shortage of supply, leading to a serious decline in imported car sales of Toyota Vietnam (TMV).

Talking to reporters, Mr. Pham Anh Tuan, General Director of TMV's Strategic Planning Department, shared that in the past, TMV had stopped placing orders for factories in Indonesia and Thailand, producing cars for the Vietnamese market, so when receiving the Vehicle Type Approval Certificate (VTA), the company was still unable to import cars to Vietnam because there were no cars. However, Mr. Tuan said that immediately after receiving the VTA certificate in March 2018, TMV immediately placed orders and according to the plan, it would take about 3 months for the first batch of cars to arrive in the country. According to Mr. Tuan, new car models such as Wigo or Avanza will arrive in the country after the first tax-free shipment arrives in Vietnam at the end of June 2018.

Due to the barriers of Decree 116, Toyota Fortuner 2017 has been absent from the Vietnamese market since November 2017. As one of the best-selling car models in the Vietnamese market, due to high customer demand and shortage of goods, the price of Toyota Fortuner 2017 has been pushed up, and private salons are currently out of cars to sell. The next shipment is expected to supply goods to partly solve the shortage of Fortuner in the Vietnamese market. The next shipment of TVM enjoys 0% import tax, which means that Toyota Fortuner will have a lower selling price. It can be seen that Toyota Vietnam (TVM) switching from assembling Fortuner domestically to importing the new generation is a big disadvantage, but if the company intends to return to assembling Fortuner in Vietnam, it is expected that the time will be longer than ordering from Indonesia.

Toyota Fortuner and Honda CR-V are familiar names to Vietnamese users. In April 2018, Honda Vietnam (HVN) sold 1,508 CR-V 2018 vehicles in a new batch enjoying 0% tax, which has proven the great attraction of imported 7-seat SUV/Crossover models with "names" that are very familiar to users in Vietnam at this time. It is expected that the upcoming batch of Toyota Fortuner enjoying 0% import tax will have very large sales.
