Toyota Land Cruiser 2017 diesel engine arrives in Vietnam

In addition to the traditional gasoline engine version, Toyota Land Cruiser also has a diesel engine version imported unofficially to Vietnam with a selling price of around 4 billion VND depending on the version.

Toyota's famous SUV model has an additional diesel engine option for customers who want to own a large vehicle but with more economical operating costs. The 2017 Land Cruiser diesel engine is sold by unofficial import stores at a price of around 4 billion VND depending on the equipment version.

Everyone knows that the Toyota Land Cruiser is a gas-guzzling car because it uses a large 8-cylinder engine, but the majority of users who choose the Land Cruiser are financially well-off, so few people think about this issue. However, there will be a small number of customers who like the Land Cruiser but want to save on operating costs, so the diesel version of this Land Cruiser will meet that need.

The diesel engine on the Toyota Land Cruiser shared with the Lexus LX450d just launched in India is codenamed 1VD-FTV with a capacity of 4.5 liters, V8. The engine produces a maximum capacity of 261 horsepower at 3,400 rpm and a maximum torque of 650 Nm at a speed range of 1,600 - 2,600 rpm. This power is transmitted to all 4 wheels through a 6-speed automatic transmission. According to Toyota, this engine consumes an average of 9.6 km/liter of fuel, equivalent to 10.4 liters/100 km.

With the current price of diesel being about 5,000 VND/liter cheaper than gasoline, along with the more economical operation of diesel engines compared to gasoline engines, the operating cost of the diesel engine version on the Toyota Land Cruiser will clearly be more economical. This has been clearly demonstrated when customers in Vietnam currently tend to use diesel engines for large vehicles such as Toyota Fortuner, Ford Everest, Hyundai SantaFe or Kia Sorento.

Meanwhile, the genuine imported Toyota Land Cruiser version uses a V8 gasoline engine, dual VVT-i, 4.6 liter capacity, producing 304 horsepower at 5500 rpm, torque of 439 Nm at 3400 rpm. This engine is equipped with a 6-speed automatic transmission. In addition, there is a version imported from the US equipped with a 32-valve V8 engine with dual camshaft, with a "larger" capacity (5.7 liters) and therefore superior in terms of parameters: maximum capacity reaches 381 horsepower at 5600 rpm and 544 Nm at 3600 rpm. In addition, the 8-speed automatic transmission is also a more advanced equipment than the remaining versions.

Apart from the difference in engine, the Toyota Land Cruiser diesel has a similar design to the gasoline version, and the amenities on the car are also similar. Along with Camry or Highlander, Toyota Land Cruiser is a privately imported car model, although the price is quite high, it still attracts the attention of a segment of domestic consumers.

This is a fully optioned version, so the equipment on the car is quite high-end. The car comes with 20-inch multi-spoke alloy wheels similar to the Lexus LX570, a strong hexagonal grille with horizontal metal bars. The Land Cruiser is 5,170 mm long, 1,980 mm wide, 1,930 mm high, thanks to its large size, the Land Cruiser has 3 spacious rows of seats for 7 people.

The fully equipped interior includes leather seats, a 9-inch touchscreen infotainment screen in the cockpit, and two 10.1-inch screens for rear passengers. A multi-function leather-wrapped steering wheel with additional wood trim. Dual-zone automatic air conditioning and additional manual cooling vents for the third row of seats. In addition, this model is also equipped with electric folding steps and an electric tailgate.

Toyota Land Cruiser diesel engines are mainly imported to Vietnam from the Middle East market through unofficial importers with a selling price of around 4 billion VND, not cheaper than the genuine imported gasoline version of Toyota Vietnam.
