Toyota Vios unexpectedly drops in price.
Customers buying a Vios at this time are receiving both discounts and free accessories from dealerships, with a total value of over 30 million VND.
At Toyota Long Bien, the price of the Vios 1.5 G automatic has been reduced by 25 million VND from the suggested retail price of 612 million VND to 587 million VND, and customers also receive additional accessories worth 5 million VND; the Vios 1.5 E manual has been reduced by 27 million VND from the suggested retail price of 561 million VND to 534 million VND. At Toyota Ha Dong, customers buying both automatic and manual versions of the Vios will receive a direct discount of 20 million VND compared to the suggested retail price, plus an additional 8 million VND worth of accessories.

| The 2014 Vios was launched in Thailand in March 2013 and will be displayed at the Vietnam Motor Show at the end of October in Ho Chi Minh City. |
Several factors are believed to be contributing to the current price reduction of the Vios, including increased competition from newly launched B-segment models, especially the highly popular Honda City. With the current price cut, the Vios is only slightly more expensive than the automatic City (580 million VND), less expensive than the manual City (540 million VND), and quite close to the Sunny (588 and 538 million VND for the automatic and manual versions, respectively). Unlike the popular City, the Vios' price reduction makes the Sunny's already difficult position even harder to compete in.
Furthermore, there are suggestions that the clearance of existing stock will pave the way for the launch of the 2014 Vios at the Vietnam Motor Show at the end of October in Ho Chi Minh City. However, in reality, according to our research, apart from the display at the exhibition, there is currently no indication that the 2014 Vios will be sold in 2013. Some Toyota dealerships assert that the earliest the domestically assembled 2014 Vios will be available to consumers is in the first quarter, or even the second quarter of 2014.
