Ho Chi Minh City commemorates the 45th anniversary of the Tet Offensive of 1968.

On February 2nd, Ho Chi Minh City held a ceremony to commemorate the 83rd anniversary of the founding of the Communist Party of Vietnam (February 3, 1930 - February 3, 2013) and the 45th anniversary of the Tet Offensive and Uprising (1968-2013).



Chairman of the Vietnam General Confederation of Labor Dang Ngoc Tung and Chairwoman of the Ho Chi Minh City People's Council Nguyen Thi Quyet Tam presented the title of Hero of Labor to Ms. Ta Thi Chung, Deputy Director of Tu Du Peace Village.

Former President Nguyen Minh Triet; General Sisavath Keobounphanh, former Prime Minister of Laos; General Tran Dai Quang, Politburo member and Minister of Public Security; Le Thanh Hai, Politburo member and Secretary of the Ho Chi Minh City Party Committee, along with veteran revolutionaries, Vietnamese Heroic Mothers, generals, and heroes of the armed forces; leaders of central ministries and agencies; and a large number of people from all walks of life in Ho Chi Minh City attended the commemoration ceremony.

Party Secretary Le Thanh Hai reviewed the formation process and glorious milestones from the founding of the Communist Party of Vietnam to the present day. He emphasized that the victory of the resistance war against the US, led by the Party, was immensely great; in particular, the Tet Offensive and Uprising of 1968 was a miracle, creating a tremendous victory, demonstrating the revolutionary spirit of our army and people, and marking an important turning point of strategic significance.

The Tet Offensive of 1968 is a shining symbol of the indomitable will and strength of the Vietnamese army and people, demonstrating the independence, intelligence, and strategic brilliance of the Party's war leadership; creating a miracle through a long and arduous struggle by the people and soldiers in both the North and South.

Ho Chi Minh City Party Secretary Le Thanh Hai affirmed: The Party, State, and people of Vietnam, the Party Committee and people of Ho Chi Minh City will forever be grateful to the leaders, commanders at all levels, cadres, soldiers, and compatriots who participated in writing the immortal epic of the Spring Offensive of 1968; remembering and cherishing the contributions of the outstanding sons and daughters who dedicated their lives to the Fatherland, portraying the immortal "Vietnamese spirit."

In Ho Chi Minh City, the Party Committee and people have always upheld their glorious traditions, strived persistently, and continued to achieve victories, making important contributions to the country's reform process. With the spirit of "together with the whole country, for the whole country," the Party Committee, government, and people of the city have made efforts to overcome difficulties and challenges; thoroughly understood, concretized, and creatively implemented the resolutions, policies, and guidelines of the Party and State, achieving many outstanding, great, and comprehensive achievements, creating fundamental changes in social life, and making a very important contribution to the overall achievements of the country.

On this occasion, Ho Chi Minh City also organized a ceremony to present prestigious State awards to collectives and individuals of the city.

Earlier that same day, the Ho Chi Minh Museum - Ho Chi Minh City Branch also held the inauguration ceremony for the renovation and expansion project of the Ho Chi Minh Museum - Ho Chi Minh City Branch, a key project of special significance for the city. The project has a total investment of 47 billion VND and includes main components such as a multi-purpose auditorium, thematic exhibition rooms, a documentary film screening room about President Ho Chi Minh, and several items related to the museum's artistic lighting and sound systems.

Earlier, the Ho Chi Minh City leadership delegation and representatives from various departments, districts, and people of Ho Chi Minh City laid flowers and offered incense to commemorate President Ho Chi Minh at the Ho Chi Minh Museum and President Ton Duc Thang at the Ton Duc Thang Museum.
