Ho Chi Minh City supports Nghe An to organize investment promotion conference in 2019

“Analysis” in commerce

Speaking at the Conference to summarize the agreement on socio-economic development cooperation for the period 2014-2019 and sign the Cooperation Agreement for the period 2019-2025 between Ho Chi Minh City and Nghe An province on April 13, Director of the Ho Chi Minh City Trade and Investment Promotion Center Pham Thiet Hoa said that if talking about investment, perhaps Ho Chi Minh City will support Nghe An a lot, but if talking about trade, it must be two-way.

Comrade Pham Thiet Hoa raised the issue that currently many other countries such as China, Thailand, etc. are "invading" the Vietnamese market, along with the signing of FTA agreements, which means that Vietnam is waiting for "attacks" from other countries, so we need to have a "counter-defense".

“The countermeasure here is to increase support and sharing among localities so that Ho Chi Minh City businesses can have a regular and continuous presence in the provinces, including Nghe An,” explained the head of the Ho Chi Minh City Center for Trade and Investment Promotion.

Comrade Pham Thiet Hoa also said that the unit has asked for permission from the leaders of Ho Chi Minh City to organize a festival or a week of Ho Chi Minh City products in Nghe An and to conduct a survey to gradually increase the frequency of appearance of Ho Chi Minh City products.

Through the conference, he expressed his wish that Nghe An would support Ho Chi Minh City in organizing days that are highly branded for the city, spreading to neighboring localities, and also creating opportunities to connect Ho Chi Minh City businesses with Nghe An businesses.

In a previous exchange with the leaders of the Department of Industry and Trade of Nghe An, the Director of the Center for Trade and Investment Promotion of Ho Chi Minh City also affirmed that with the specialties of Nghe An, this unit and the Department of Industry and Trade of Ho Chi Minh City are ready to support to bring Nghe An specialties to the city named after Uncle Ho in a more systematic way, even support things like packaging to become better, more impressive, and suitable for current tastes.

Investment promotion connection

Regarding investment promotion, comrade Pham Thiet Hoa proposed that Nghe An province should focus on attracting investment from Ho Chi Minh City in 3 areas.

Firstly, leather and footwear, the number 1 strength of Ho Chi Minh City with many famous brands, if investing in Nghe An can take advantage of abundant labor resources and potential Central market.

The second is agricultural, forestry and fishery processing, because Nghe An's seafood products are very good but processing is still limited, so we invite experienced investors with the help of Ho Chi Minh City.

And the third is investing in the special national relic site - the historical relic of President Ho Chi Minh Memorial Site in Kim Lien commune (Nam Dan district).

Regarding this content, after listening to comments and suggestions from the Director of the Ho Chi Minh City Trade and Investment Promotion Center, Comrade Nguyen Thanh Phong - Member of the Party Central Committee, Deputy Secretary of the City Party Committee, Chairman of the Ho Chi Minh City People's Committee delivered a speech assigning tasks and requesting that in 2019 the Promotion Centers of the two localities coordinate to help introduce Ho Chi Minh City businesses in Nghe An.

At the same time, comrade Nguyen Thanh Phong directed the subordinate units to support Nghe An in organizing an investment promotion in Ho Chi Minh City, introducing some typical products of Nghe An to the people of the city named after Uncle Ho.
