Vinh City: Launching ceremony for the nationwide campaign to build irrigation systems.

(Baonghean.vn) - This morning, September 26th, at Hung Dong commune, Vinh City People's Committee organized a ceremony to launch a campaign for all citizens to participate in irrigation work in commemoration of October 16th and to prevent and control flooding in the area. Attending the ceremony were representatives from the Provincial Irrigation Department, city leaders, leaders from wards and communes, and a large number of people from Hung Dong commune.

Before the launching ceremony, the local authorities mobilized the people of Hung Dong commune to dredge and clear the canal system in Trung Thanh and Trung My hamlets, marking the beginning of this year's "All-Army Mobilization for Irrigation" campaign.

From now until November 30, 2015, Vinh City aims to excavate and dredge 25,200 m3 of soil; and reinforce 54,850m of irrigation canals in the fields and urban areas. The purpose is to better serve agricultural production in the 2015 winter crop season and the 2016 winter-spring crop season, while also preventing flooding and environmental pollution in Vinh City.
