Vinh City: Falling into the basement, 1 woman died

(Baonghean.vn) - The incident happened at around 11:30 a.m. on April 10 in the basement of a high-rise building in Block 1, Quang Trung Ward, Vinh City.

At that time, a woman and her daughter went to the restaurant in front of the building lobby when unfortunately the mother fell into the basement.

Witnesses said that when she fell, the woman's head hit the concrete floor and she fainted on the spot. People rushed to call an ambulance but the victim died shortly after.

Scene of the incident

According to observations, the victim fell from a height of about 3.5m. The restaurant above is located in a narrow space in front of the building's lobby and close to the upper edge of the basement.

After the incident, the local police and leaders of Block 1, Quang Trung Ward were present at the scene to check. It is known that the unfortunate victim resided in Block 13, Hung Nguyen Town. At noon of the same day, the victim's family took him back to his hometown.

Mr. Vo Van Nhuan, block leader of block 1, Quang Trung ward, was also present at the scene to inspect. Mr. Nhuan and the residents next to the building requested the building management agency to soon install a protective corridor at the edge of the basement to ensure safety.

This building concentrates large shopping areas, in which the entire 2nd and 3rd floors are rented by BigC to be used as a supermarket, so the number of people coming here is very large, posing potential safety risks.
