Vinh City will disconnect phone numbers listed on illegal classified ads.

(Baonghean.vn) - That is one of the solutions to handle the situation of illegal classified ads that the Vice Chairman of Vinh City People's Committee proposed at the question and answer session of the 5th session of the 21st City People's Council on the morning of December 27.

At the meeting, delegates said that since May 5, 2017, Decree 28/2017/ND-CP on handling illegal advertising and classified ads officially took effect, clearly defining behaviors and increasing penalties, but up to now, illegal advertising is still quite common, even showing a tendency to develop more strongly.

Delegates also asked the city to clarify responsibilities and synchronous solutions to implement this issue.

Mr. Dau Vinh Thinh - Vice Chairman of Vinh City People's Committee said that Vinh City, like most other cities in the country, has a situation of classified advertisements on walls, electric poles, and fences in public places, which spoils the urban beauty.

Recently, classified ads have become more sophisticated and difficult to handle. Mr. Thinh gave examples such as hanging and pasting classified ads in high places that are difficult to remove; using junk SIM cards or SIM cards from other provinces for advertising; cutting off one phone number will only cause another phone number to "grow".

According to Mr. Thinh, recently, functional sectors and ward and commune units have launched propaganda, inspections, on-site fines and even fines after investigating violations. In 2016 - 2017, the city has fined 17 cases of advertising activities, collecting more than 56 million VND.

Mr. Thinh stated that the reason why classified ads still exist is due to the need for economic development, many service industries have advertising needs, this form of classified ads is cheaper than other forms; many individuals and organizations know that they are violating but still deliberately do it.

In addition, the handling of the authorities from city to ward and commune is still not strong and drastic enough to limit classified advertising.

To rectify and handle classified ads, Mr. Thinh added that in the coming time, Vinh City will continue to disseminate regulations and levels of handling violations of classified ads; assign handling targets to wards and communes; direct each ward and commune to build at least one street without classified ads for replication; build and improve the classified ads system to every block and hamlet.

At the same time, the city will coordinate with telecommunications units to cut off some phone numbers that violate classified advertising regulations./.
