Vinh City still has dozens of drug retail outlets
(Baonghean.vn) - Although in 2017, authorities eliminated 53 drug retail points, Vinh City authorities determined that there were still 36 other points in the area.
On the morning of January 4, Vinh City People's Committee (Nghe An) held a conference to review national defense and security work in 2017 and set out tasks for 2018.
Also attending were leaders of Vinh City, representatives of the Provincial Police and Military Command of Nghe An Province.

According to Lieutenant Colonel Nguyen Canh Thao - Commander of Vinh City Military Command, in 2017, the economic situation in the city still faced many difficulties, and many problems arose in security and social order.
“Drug crimes are still complicated. The situation of drug trafficking and organization of drug use, especially crystal meth among young people, is increasing. There are many potential large drug trafficking rings involving many localities,” said Lieutenant Colonel Thao, adding that in 2017, Vinh City authorities had eliminated 53 retail drug selling points. However, there are still 36 other points in the area.

In the past year, Vinh City authorities have solved 269 cases and arrested 293 people for drug crimes. Thereby, they have seized more than 3 kg of heroin, 7,200 synthetic drug pills, more than 11 kg of crystal meth... Vinh City has also successfully solved 23 special cases, arrested 43 people and eliminated 11 drug trafficking and trafficking rings across the country and between provinces. In Vinh City, there are currently nearly 400 drug addicts with management records.
In 2017, Vinh City had 231 criminal cases, of which 226 cases were cleared and 290 people were arrested. “Last year, property theft crimes occurred a lot. In particular, there were new theft methods such as smashing car windows and breaking into offices,” said Lieutenant Colonel Nguyen Canh Thao, adding that last year, Vinh City authorities solved 461 cases and arrested more than 1,200 gamblers. Regarding prostitution, 5 cases and 16 people were arrested.

In particular, the authorities have clarified more than 320 cases of violations of economic management order, positions and corruption, an increase of nearly 100 cases compared to 2016. Thereby, nearly 370 people were handled for violating economic and environmental laws.
Regarding national defense, in 2017, Vinh City completed many tasks, notably the largest-ever regional defense exercise. In this exercise, Vinh City mobilized more than 20,000 officers and soldiers to participate. In addition, Vinh City also did a good job of building a national defense posture associated with a people's security posture and strengthening the movement of the entire people to protect national security.
The conference also pointed out some shortcomings and limitations, and identified tasks and directions in 2018.
