(Baonghean.vn) - Commercial and service streets in Vinh City with sidewalks 3 meters wide or more have lines marking the boundaries between pedestrian areas and bicycle and motorbike parking areas.

On April 5, Vinh Urban Infrastructure Management and Development Joint Stock Company drew lines to demarcate the boundary between the sidewalk for pedestrians and the sidewalk for bicycles and motorbikes according to the instructions on some contents when clearing traffic safety corridors and urban sidewalks of Vinh City People's Committee.

Accordingly, this time, 41 service and commercial streets have sidewalks marked with boundary lines. In particular, streets with sidewalks wider than 6m have a 3m wide section for motorbikes and bicycles towards residential areas, the remaining part is for pedestrians.

For streets with 4-6m wide sidewalks, draw a 3m wide section for motorbikes and bicycles towards residential areas, the remaining area is for pedestrians.

For 3 - 4m wide streets, draw a 1m - 2m wide area for motorbikes and bicycles towards residential areas, and a 2m wide area for pedestrians.

Also according to this instruction, Vinh City does not mark the sidewalk for motorbikes and bicycles on political streets such as Truong Thi, Lenin, Le Mao... and streets with sidewalk width less than 3m.

According to the reporter's observation, when the authorities drew the sidewalk demarcation lines, the majority of people agreed and proactively arranged their vehicles according to regulations. Mr. Hoang Kim Son, Le Mao ward, Vinh city said: The clear sidewalk demarcation helps people know and comply with the regulations on parking their vehicles.

Talking to reporters, Mr. Bui Duc Loc - Director of Vinh Urban Infrastructure Management and Development Joint Stock Company said: This company is focusing on deploying technical staff and workers to complete the line drawing before April 15, 2017.

Regarding this issue, Vinh City People's Committee also assigned the People's Committees of wards and communes to notify households living on both sides of the streets to only use the marked sidewalks for two-wheeled vehicles and not to use them for any other purposes.

According to the Vinh City People's Committee, common violations of road, railway, and sidewalk traffic safety corridors that need to be cleared are: billboards placed on sidewalks and roads not in accordance with regulations; fixed awnings, canvas awnings, sagging mobile awnings, umbrellas, and awning support poles on sidewalks not in the right places.

In addition, there are gathering points for construction materials, goods, illegal production, business and trading services on sidewalks and roads; steps up and down private houses, agencies and units occupying sidewalks, building curbs for vehicles to use on sidewalks; car wash service points on sidewalks and roads; flea markets, sales points, car stickers, phone stickers... on sidewalks and roads.
