Khoa's first incident was at 1 p.m. on September 19, when he was riding his motorbike in the direction of Kim Anh - Phu Lo Intersection to Road 2, Phu Lo Commune, Soc Son District, and came across a wedding. Khoa immediately parked his motorbike at a nearby cafe, asked the locals for the names of the bride and groom, and then walked to attend the wedding.
At this time, taking advantage of the chaos of people coming and going while the bride was being prepared, Khoa freely walked up to the second floor and entered an unlocked room. Inside, Khoa discovered a cabinet, so he used his hand to open the door, took a leather wallet containing nearly 5 million VND, put it in his shoulder bag, then went downstairs, took his motorbike and left the wedding.
Then, at around 10:00 a.m. on November 1, Tran Dang Khoa wore a brown imitation leather briefcase and rode a motorbike around the area with the intention of stealing from any wedding party that was not careful.
Around 12 o'clock, when he arrived at Song Mai Doai village, Mai Dinh commune, Soc Son district, he heard wedding music. Khoa asked around and found out that it was a wedding of a groom named Thin. Khoa immediately found a cafe and sat down to wait for the time to pick up the bride.
Soc Son District Police recommend that people should be more vigilant, especially families organizing funerals and weddings should keep money in careful places with someone watching, to avoid unfortunate incidents like the above.
Around 12 o'clock, Khoa walked into the groom's house and went straight to the bridal chamber. There, Khoa met Ms. Nguyen Thi Nhung, the groom's sister, who was cleaning up, so she stood there and asked her to chat. Thinking she was her brother's guest, Ms. Nhung trusted Khoa and asked him to stay and watch the room.
Alone, Khoa saw a newly bought wooden cabinet, so he used his hand to open the door, found inside a plastic bag containing an envelope and a mahogany wallet, so he took everything, put them in his pocket and left. When passing through the deserted field, Khoa stopped and opened all the envelopes, finding about 53 million VND...
Using similar tricks, Khoa committed theft at 10 weddings in Soc Son district, Dong Anh. With his handsome appearance, polite dress, and gentle speech, Khoa easily fooled everyone.
The amount of money stolen from 10 weddings was about 1 billion VND. In addition to personal expenses, Khoa saved up to buy a car to use as a means of theft, and used the rest to run errands for a local agency.
After a period of investigation and surveillance, Soc Son District Police discovered and arrested Tran Dang Khoa for theft.
