Village boy turns house into heroin retail location
(Baonghean.vn) - After buying drugs, Mac Van Tam divided them into small pieces and resold them to drug addicts. This subject turned his house into a place to conduct illegal transactions.
On October 25, Nghe An Provincial People's Court opened an online trial of defendant Mac Van Tam (born 1986), residing in Chau Hanh commune, Quy Chau district, for the crime of“Illegal drug trafficking".
According to the case file, at noon on May 14, Mac Van Tam rode his motorbike to Quang Phong commune, Que Phong district to buy drugs to sell for profit. There, Tam met a man of unknown origin and ordered 19 million VND worth of heroin.
After buying the drugs, Tam brought them home, divided them into 7 packages, and hid them in many places such as his pocket, in a wooden cabinet, etc.
That same evening, Tam sold some drugs to a man named Cao Van Huu (residing in Nghia Mai commune, Nghia Dan district) for 400,000 VND. However, on the way home, the drug buyer was arrested by the police.
At 10:20 p.m. the same day, while Tam was standing in front of his house selling drugs to another customer, he was caught red-handed by the police. Searching his house, the police seized many more packages of drugs.
The investigation agency determined that in this case, defendant Mac Van Tam must bear criminal responsibility for buying and selling more than 43 grams of heroin.
At the trial, the defendant admitted to drug trafficking for profit. The defendant presented his difficult family circumstances, being poor, having little education, and limited legal awareness, asking the court to consider reducing his sentence.
It is known that before committing this crime, Mac Van Tam was administratively punished for gambling.
Considering that in this case the defendant’s honest confession, remorse, and family contributions to the revolution are mitigating circumstances, the panel sentenced Mac Van Tam to 15 years in prison for the crime of illegal drug trafficking.
Regarding Cao Van Huu, the investigation agency has prosecuted this defendant for the crime of illegal possession of narcotics, so it is not considered in this case.
