The son lives in a big house, but the mother lives in a thatched hut.
(Baonghean) - Despite having a full family and a decent, solid house, Ms. Thai Thi Than in Hamlet 4, Tan Son Commune (Do Luong) has had to live in a dilapidated, tattered thatched hut for more than 2 years.
Old mother in thatched hut
For more than 2 years now, people in Tan Son commune (Do Luong) have been feeling sorry for the family situation of Mrs. Thai Thi Than (85 years old, hamlet 4, Tan Son commune). Despite her old age and weak health, Mrs. Than has to live every day in a thatched hut of about 10 square meters, which is tattered, shabby and extremely cramped. The hut is surrounded by a shabby tarpaulin, which leaks in all directions in the rainy season and is hot in the summer.

Half of the tent was used for a rickety bed. Next to it were two iron-framed tables that were used as altars for her martyr husband. Looking at this scene, no one would have thought that Mrs. Than had two children, one of whom lived about 30 meters away from the tent she was staying in.
Mrs. Than is the wife of martyr Nguyen Cong Binh, who died in 1972. After her husband died, she single-handedly raised two children, Mr. Nguyen Cong Kinh and Mrs. Nguyen Thi Tinh. Despite many difficulties in life, Mrs. Than always worked hard, staying up late and waking up early, working diligently in the fields to give her children the best.
As a relative of a martyr, Ms. Than has received care and support from the State and mass organizations. She is currently receiving a monthly allowance of 1,318 million VND/month. During holidays and Tet, she receives all policies for meritorious people.
She thought her old age would be filled with joy and peace with her children and grandchildren, but for more than 2 years now, Mrs. Than has had to live a miserable and difficult life.

Previously, on March 25, 2015, Mr. Nguyen Cong Kinh arbitrarily used wood to build a tent on the land of the old elementary school in Hamlet 4 (about 30m from Mr. Kinh's house). After setting up the tent, Ms. Than moved into this dilapidated tent to demand land from the Government. Mr. Kinh also presented the Certificate of Merit from the Fatherland, the Resistance Medal, and set up an altar for his martyr father in the tent.
Not only that, on the altar also appeared a Certificate of Merit and a photo of martyr Dao Cong Khoat. According to the commune government, the two families of martyrs Nguyen Cong Binh and Dao Cong Khoat are not related by blood or bloodline.
“The fact that Mr. Kinh worships his father and allows the family of martyr Dao Cong Khoat to receive the Certificate of Merit and have his portrait in that hut is a crime against the martyrs. The families of the martyrs all have decent houses and all their relatives are still alive, so why do they have to worship in that dilapidated hut?” - a resident of Hamlet 4 asked.
Son in solid house
In contrast to the image of Mrs. Than in the dilapidated shack is the solid, spacious, roofed level 4 house of her son - Mr. Nguyen Cong Kinh. It is known that the land plot that Mr. Kinh is using previously belonged to Mrs. Than. In accordance with Decree 64 of the Government, in 1997, the State granted a Land Use Right Certificate to Mr. Nguyen Cong Kinh.

What is even more ironic is that Mr. Kinh's house is only about 30 meters away from the thatched hut where Mrs. Than lives. Given Mrs. Than's situation, many people have advised Mr. Kinh to bring his mother back to live with them to ensure her health, but Mr. Kinh has not listened.
Not only that, Mr. Kinh's act of arbitrarily setting up a tent on collective land not only violated the law but also did not receive the consent of the people. Many people were upset and said that in the commune there were dozens of policy families, if everyone was like Mr. Kinh, where would the law be, the good policies of the State for policy beneficiaries would be taken advantage of.
Mr. Nguyen Ba Dai, a resident of Hamlet 4, said that most of the people in the hamlet did not agree with Mr. Kinh's actions, but no one dared to give him any advice because if they disagreed or criticized him, he would curse them. I have attended many meetings of the commune and hamlet to persuade and persuade Mr. Kinh to dismantle the shack himself, but he stubbornly refused to listen.

Mr. Nguyen Ba Tan - Chairman of Tan Son Commune People's Committee said that the land plot where Mr. Kinh was building a tent for his mother to live in in 2006 had been planned by Do Luong District People's Committee for detailed subdivision and auction of residential land. Immediately after learning about the incident, Tan Son Commune People's Committee together with departments and organizations came to persuade and mobilize Mr. Kinh to dismantle the tent himself and bring Mrs. Than back to live in the house to ensure her health. However, Mr. Kinh still did not do so and has continued to do so until now.
