Experience the world's most luxurious train with 200 million VND/ticket

East Japan Railway Company (JR East) has just launched what is being billed as the “world’s most luxurious” train line. Despite its “huge” price tag ranging from $2,200 to $10,000, all tickets have been sold out by March 2018.

Called the Shiki-Shima, the new train will consist of 10 carriages and will be used for two- to four-day journeys around eastern Japan. JR East says the Shiki-Shima will give passengers the feeling of a hotel.boutiqueluxury on the move – more than the feeling of a regular train.

The Shiki-Shima's interior is the work of Ken Okuyama – a renowned designer who has collaborated with Porsche, Ferrari and Maserati.

The luxury can be felt in every detail of the ship. The bar has live piano music; the walls and windows are specially designed to bring a feeling of pure nature and absolute silence.

The meal menus are curated by Michelin-starred celebrity chef Katsuhiro Nakamura, and change regularly depending on the ingredients and culinary styles of the lands the ship passes through.

Shiki-Shima even has its own theme song, titled “Train Suite”.

The train has 17 separate rooms, the most expensive of which is larger than many normal apartments in Tokyo - including two beds, a living room and a bathtub.

JR East says Shiki Shima is a combination of “traditional Japanese aesthetics with a futuristic spirit.”

A new Harry Potter-themed platform, Platform 13 1/2, has been built just for the luxury train. To get a ticket, you have to fill in an application and the result will be decided by lottery due to the large number of entries. NHK World reports that the odds of getting a ticket are 1 in 76.
