Robber robbed 2 flight attendants in Saigon, escaped for 21 years

Along with her accomplices, Uyen robbed two female waitresses at a restaurant in downtown Ho Chi Minh City. She quickly fled when the gang was arrested.

The Criminal Investigation Department (PC52) of Ho Chi Minh City Police has just arrested Tran To Uyen (43 years old) for a crime committed more than 20 years ago.

According to the case, in 1995 Uyen met two female restaurant attendants in District 1. Knowing their routine, he and his accomplices planned to rob them.

Early in the morning of March 10 that year, this group brought knives and waited in an alley on Dinh Tien Hoang Street (Binh Thanh District) for an opportunity. A moment later, two girls and a foreign man passing by were overpowered and robbed of their motorbike, handbag, two necklaces, money...

The police later arrested four of them, but Uyen escaped to Hue and was wanted.

Uyen changed his name, got married, had children and worked as a construction worker in many provinces and cities. For many years, he did not contact his family in Go Vap district.

In 2004, after 19 years in hiding, Uyen took his wife and children to Ho Chi Minh City to rent a room. He lived near his family for many years, but he did not return home to visit them for fear of being exposed and because his parents had immigrated to the US.

In the middle of the year, Uyen's mother returned to Vietnam for treatment but did not survive. After the funeral, her ashes were deposited at a pagoda on Quang Trung Street (Go Vap District).

Verifying at the temple, the police discovered that the sender was Uyen so they arrested her.
