Controversy over Miss Ngoc Chau not graduating from university

After the Miss Universe 2022 contest held in the US, Ngoc Chau went from being supported by the audience to being criticized. Initially, many people thought that the reason was because the beauty was eliminated from the top 16 of the Miss Universe 2022 contest held in early January 2023.

However, the incident sparked controversy due to information circulating that the beauty had not graduated from university.

Specifically, social networks have spread images believed to be a list of students who have not graduated and have overstayed their training period at Ton Duc Thang University (HCMC), including a student code in the same major as Ngoc Chau.

After that, the Miss Universe Vietnam organizing committee - Ngoc Chau's management unit spoke up about the scandal of Miss Ngoc Chau not having a university degree in recent days.

According to Mr. Bao Hoang - representative of the organizing committee, at the time of the Miss Universe Vietnam contest, it was confirmed that Ngoc Chau had not graduated from university, however, he affirmed that the beauty did not lie.

Specifically, he said that when registering for Miss Universe Vietnam 2022, Ngoc Chau listed her education level as 12/12 and was studying at Ton Duc Thang University.

"Ngoc Chau was honest when competing in Miss Universe Vietnam. Chau has not graduated from university with a degree in Biotechnology. The organizers knew this information in advance and discussed it with her. Ngoc Chau has completed most of her school subjects and is choosing the right time to graduate," said Mr. Bao Hoang.

At the same time, Mr. Bao Hoang apologized to the public for the recent misunderstanding. The representative of the contest's organizing committee hopes that beauty fans will continue to support Ngoc Chau on her upcoming journey.

Ngoc Chau also said that she has been busy preparing for the Miss Universe competition recently, so she has not yet completed her studies, projects or internships. In the near future, she will arrange to get her bachelor's degree.

However, after this statement from the organizers, a part of beauty fans are still not satisfied. Because they think Ngoc Chau is ambiguous about her academic achievements.

The representative of the organizing committee also added about this incident: "Previously, some information in the press about Ngoc Chau's education, this did not come from our organizing committee but from Chau. We are very sorry for this misunderstanding".

However, many viewers defended Ngoc Chau and said that she had tried very hard to fulfill her duties as a beauty queen.

Before Ngoc Chau, another beauty also caused a lot of controversy about her education. That is runner-up Kim Duyen - Vietnam's representative at Miss Universe 2021.

Specifically, Kim Duyen caused controversy because of the information that she owed 43 credits at Nam Can Tho University and was forced to drop out. After that, runner-up Kim Duyen responded to the incident. Kim Duyen said she stopped studying in Vietnam at the end of her first year and studied abroad in Singapore to improve her foreign language skills and get a certificate in Business Administration.
