The new regulation of the dormitory of Ho Chi Minh City University of Education prohibiting students from sleeping on mattresses has caused many mixed opinions.

The dormitory director of Ho Chi Minh City University of Education has just issued a notice on the use and arrangement of facilities and student belongings to ensure order and aesthetics of the rooms and convenience for living, working and studying.

According to this notice, the dormitory director requires students to use and arrange personal and collective belongings in the room. Specifically, the communal table area outside must be clean, tidy, and have a tablecloth. On the table, there should only be a water bottle, a tray of cups, and a vase of flowers.

For the shoe rack area, depending on the size, students can put more or less, but only for shoes and no other items, do not leave slippers on the floor and wear slippers in the room.

It is worth mentioning that for the bed area, the dormitory requires students not to sleep on mattresses (mattresses, pads, extra blankets), only on mats. The bookshelf is only for books, 1 box is just enough to hold other items (cosmetics, medicine...), and a table lamp.

In addition, the dormitory management board of Ho Chi Minh City University of Education also requires that the bed corners be empty, only for school backpacks, and the bed base be left empty. The clothesline area or the clothesline area of the auxiliary works in each room are only for hanging coats, towels, face towels, ao dai and ironed shirts.

Some other requirements are that students take out the trash from 9pm to 11pm every day; Students do not play games or watch movies continuously, which affects the quality of study and general living in the dormitory and dormitory area. The dormitory management board of Ho Chi Minh City University of Education requires students to do this from today until December 5th this year.

As soon as the announcement was made, there were many comments on social media, especially the request for students not to use mattresses. "I find it very inconvenient to be forced to use only mats," one student shared.

Mr. Nguyen Anh Dai, Director of the Ho Chi Minh City University of Education dormitory, said that the reason the dormitory management board asked students not to sleep on mattresses was because recently many rooms in the dormitory had bedbugs. On the other hand, through understanding, the students' rooms were not clean, neat and tidy. Therefore, the dormitory management board asked students to rearrange the facilities and furniture to ensure order, aesthetics, and convenience for living and working. According to Mr. Dai, dealing with bedbugs in the dormitory is very difficult. "There is a row of houses, an entire floor of rooms are infested with bedbugs" - Mr. Dai said. The dormitory director of the Ho Chi Minh City University of Education dormitory said that as soon as bedbugs were discovered, the dormitory management board hired a company to handle the problem, but after only a few days, it happened again. On the other hand, when hundreds of students graduated at the same time, they left behind mattresses, and the garbage disposal company did not accept them because they had to pay an additional cost for treatment. “We do not make it difficult for students, but we hope they live in a clean and beautiful place. We know that there are nearly 2,000 people, each with their own ideas, but we must work towards a common goal,” said Mr. Dai. The dormitory of Ho Chi Minh City University of Education is located at 351A Lac Long Quan, Ward 5, District 11. Currently, the dormitory has 200 rooms, with about 1,600 students residing there.
