Avoid monopolies in the provision of fishing vessel insurance services.

(Baonghean.vn) - Voters in Quynh Luu and Dien Chau districts have petitioned the government to establish a mechanism to allow multiple companies to participate in providing fishing vessel insurance services to fishermen, avoiding monopolies. Currently, the procedures for purchasing and claiming insurance when an insured event occurs are lengthy, sometimes taking years to process.

The relevant authorities have responded to this issue as follows:

According to a report from PJCO Nghe An Insurance Company: In all cases of loss, the insurance company directly went to the site to assess the loss and provided detailed guidance to the ship owners on collecting loss documentation as required. Compensation was settled 100% for all losses immediately after the documentation was complete as per regulations.

There were no unpaid losses for which the shipowner's rights were not immediately compensated after the documentation was collected and provided in full as stipulated in Decree 67-CP.

Results of compensation for fishing vessel losses (cumulative since implementation): 550 loss cases. Of which:

- Hull damage: 484 incidents (with compensation amount: VND 11,227,589,664)

- Crew members: 66 cases (with compensation amount: VND 1,303,200,000)

Therefore, voters are requested to specify the name and address of the specific vessel that suffered damage so that the Department of Agriculture and Rural Development can investigate and handle the matter.
