TransAsia is compensating each victim of the plane crash with $470,000.

TransAsia Airlines announced on February 11th that it will compensate each victim of the plane crash on February 4th with $470,000.

This compensation amount is the result of a closed-door discussion on February 11th between TransAsia and representatives of some relatives of the victims of the aforementioned plane crash.

AFP quoted a TransAsia spokesperson as saying: "We will compensate each victim who died in the ATR plane crash with $470,000 and we hope to reach an agreement with the relatives of these victims."

"We fully understand that it will be difficult for families to accept this immediately. Nevertheless, we hope that representatives of the families will listen to and consider our proposal," the spokesperson said.

The $470,000 compensation for each victim in this case is also nearly equal to the amount TransAsia paid to the relatives of the 48 passengers who died in another ATR plane crash in Taiwan in July 2014.

However, a TransAsia spokesperson did not say whether the relatives agreed with the compensation amount, as some relatives of the victims of the July 2014 plane crash have not yet accepted TransAsia's compensation offer, wanting "a different figure."
