Nearly 1 billion VND was donated to support the construction of 15 houses for people in flood-affected areas of western Nghe An province.
On August 1st, the Central Culture Committee of the Vietnam Buddhist Association, in coordination with the Executive Board of the Vietnam Buddhist Association of Nghe An province and the Internal Security Department of the Nghe An Provincial Police, organized the program "Giving houses to flood victims in Western Nghe An".
The delegation was led by Venerable Thich Tho Lac – Standing Member of the Executive Council, Head of the Central Culture Committee, and Deputy Head of the Standing Committee of the Vietnam Buddhist Association of Nghe An province. Also participating in the delegation were Venerable monks and nuns from the Central Culture Committee, representatives from the Executive Committee of the Vietnam Buddhist Association of Nghe An province, and representatives from the Internal Security Department of the Nghe An Provincial Police.

During this visit, the delegation presented financial assistance for the construction of 15 houses, each worth 60 million VND, to households facing extreme hardship and severely affected by the pandemic.rain and floodsin two localities: My Ly commune and Tuong Duong commune. Of these, My Ly commune received 7 houses and Tuong Duong commune received 8 houses.

The houses were built with support from contributions from the Central Culture Committee, the Executive Board of the Vietnam Buddhist Association of Nghe An province, the temples of Yen Thai, Tu, Dai Tue, Diec, and the Internal Security Department of the Nghe An Provincial Police.

In addition, the delegation also presented 100 welfare packages to households, each including 500,000 VND in cash and essential household items such as pots, pans, bowls, plates, etc., with a total value of approximately 87 million VND. The total support budget for this period was 987 million VND.

The activities not only contribute to overcoming the consequences of natural disasters but also spread the compassionate values of Buddhism and the spirit of "mutual support" of the Vietnamese people.

This is also one of the practical gestures aimed at building national unity, especially among religious organizations, armed forces, and people in ethnic minority and mountainous regions that still face many difficulties.
