Update on flood damage in Nghe An: 3 dead, 1 missing, thousands of houses submerged
According to the latest quick report from the Steering Committee for Natural Disaster Prevention, Search and Rescue and Civil Defense of Nghe An province, as of July 23, the circulation of storm No. 3 along with heavy rain and rising flood waters in recent days has caused severe damage.
Human damage: The natural disaster has caused 3 deaths, including Mrs. LYD (70 years old, residing in Huoi Poc village, Nam Can commune); Mrs. VYX (78 years old, residing in Huoi Co village, Nhon Mai commune); another victim in Bac Ly commune whose identity has not yet been determined. In addition, also in Bac Ly commune, 1 missing person was recorded. There were 4 people injured due to collisions while traveling or affected by floods.
Housing damage: The whole province has 450 houses damaged, roofs blown off in communes such as Bach Ngoc, Vinh Tuong, Quang Dong, Yen Thanh, Que Phong, Chau Binh, Nhon Mai, Yen Hoa, Na Loi, Huu Kiem, Yen Na, Muong Xen...

In addition, 3,786 houses were flooded, of which Tuong Duong commune was the most severely affected with 2,210 houses, followed by Muong Xen (264 houses), Tam Quang (177 houses), Con Cuong (300 houses), and many other communes.
Evacuation work: The total number of evacuated households is up to 3,440. Of which, Tuong Duong commune accounts for the majority with 2,210 households, followed by Muong Xen (528 households), Con Cuong (340 households), Huu Kiem (86 households), Tri Le (46 households)...
Due to the impact of natural disasters, many localities were isolated, divided, and had power outages.

Agricultural damage: The whole province has 1,604.9 hectares of rice, 307.7 hectares of rice seedlings, 1,291.94 hectares of vegetables, 990.9 hectares of annual crops, 57 hectares of perennial crops and 30.7 hectares of concentrated fruit trees damaged. In addition, the area of forest damaged is 647.2 hectares and 929 urban trees and shade trees were uprooted and broken.
Livestock losses: The whole province had 202 cattle and 2,707 poultry killed or swept away. In addition, 5 livestock barns were damaged.
Fisheries damage: The damaged aquaculture area includes 156.7 hectares of small ponds and 92 cages damaged by rising flood waters, causing them to be swept away or severely damaged.

Traffic damage: The rain and floods caused flooding at 32 locations on national and provincial highways (of which national highways: 23 locations, provincial roads: 9 locations). There were 27 landslides (22 on national highways, 5 on provincial roads). Local traffic was affected with 1,702m of road being eroded, the volume of earth and rock was 22,793.1 m³. The whole province had 49 landslides, 69 flooded points, 19 road cuts, 3 broken culverts, 3 spillways damaged, 1 iron bridge for people and 2 suspension bridges washed away.
Irrigation damage: The irrigation system was damaged, including 2,015m of eroded canals. In addition, a 100m long water pipeline serving production in Keng Du commune was severely damaged, affecting agricultural irrigation.
Industrial damage: The whole province had 37 broken electric poles, including 36 low voltage poles and 1 medium/high voltage pole. A transformer station was short-circuited and burned, seriously affecting the power supply to people and production activities.

Damage to other public works: Floods inundated 3 commune office headquarters, 1 welcome gate collapsed, 1 community cultural house collapsed, 5 lighting poles were damaged...
