The nine-volume book series "History of the Resistance War against the US for National Salvation" won the gold award for best book.

Notably, the book series "History of the Resistance War against the US for National Salvation" highlights the correct and insightful leadership role of the Central Party Committee, the Politburo, the Central Military Commission, etc., in leading and directing the resistance war against the US for national salvation, as well as the immense contributions of our army and people in both the North and South. The series also provides accurate and objective assessments, drawing valuable lessons from the leadership and conduct of this great resistance war.

Dr. Luu Tran Luan, a member of the editorial board of the National Political Publishing House, stated: “Reflecting the sacrifices and losses of our nation is already difficult. Meanwhile, researching the opposing side, namely the US imperialists and the former Republic of Vietnam government, is extremely challenging. We lack sufficient documentation to conduct comprehensive research in such fields. We stand by the national interest, the scientific responsibility, and the political responsibility of researchers to reflect the situation as truthfully and scientifically as possible. Now, it has reached a mature level and won the Gold Award this year, but this is only the first step.”

The Beautiful Book category awarded four gold prizes: "Strange Tales from Liaozhai" (published by Women's Publishing House, 2013); "Complete Works of Doan Van Cu" (Vietnam Writers Association Publishing House, 2013); "Le Tri Dung - Horse Paintings" (Fine Arts Publishing House, 2013); and the six-volume book series "Who Was Once a Child?" (Youth Publishing House, 2013). In addition, the organizing committee awarded 13 silver and 14 bronze prizes in the "Good Book" category, and 9 silver and 7 bronze prizes in the "Beautiful Book" category.

Mr. Nguyen Kiem, Vice President of the Vietnam Publishers Association, stated that 2014 marks the 10th year the Vietnam Publishers Association has organized the Vietnam Book Award. This is also the 4th year the Association has implemented the second phase of the Vietnam Book Award Project (2011-2015), expanding the scope of the award to include both literary works and translated books, with different sets of criteria.
