Giving scholarships and Tet gifts to poor households in Nghe An

(Baonghean.vn) - On January 23, all levels and sectors organized many activities to support and help the poor celebrate the traditional New Year of Giap Thin 2024 in localities across the province.

Deputy General Director of Vietnam Bank for Social Policies Nguyen Thi Hang visited and presented Tet gifts to Chau Thang commune, Quy Chau district. Attending were comrades: Nguyen Thanh Hoai - Secretary of the District Party Committee, Chairman of the People's Committee of Quy Chau district and Mr. Hoang Xuan Thuy - Deputy Director of the Social Policy Bank Branch of Nghe An province.

During this period, 300 Tet gifts worth 700,000 VND each, including 500,000 VND in cash and 200,000 VND in kind, were given to disadvantaged households, policy families, and families with revolutionary contributions in the area.

Here, Ms. Nguyen Thi Hang - Deputy General Director of Vietnam Bank for Social Policies said: In the past time, the Bank's Trade Union has implemented many meaningful social security programs for society. The number of gifts given this time is taken from the contribution fund of the trade union officials of the whole industry with the desire to help poor households and those in difficult circumstances have a full and warm Tet holiday".

Sponsored by Zhi Shan Foundation Taiwan,Nghe An Provincial Children's FundCoordinated with the Department of Labor - Invalids and Social Affairs of Thanh Chuong and Yen Thanh districts to award the first round of scholarships to poor students who have overcome difficulties.

This time, Zhi Shan Foundation awarded 152 scholarships, each worth 600,000-800,000 VND to students from primary to high school in Thanh Chuong and Yen Thanh districts. In addition, each student also received a lucky money gift on the occasion of the upcoming Lunar New Year 2024. The total amount awarded to students is more than 110 million VND.

The Zhishan Foundation Project's scholarship program for poor students who overcome difficulties to study well has been implemented in Nghe An province since 2015. Up to now, it has helped thousands of students in the area facing difficult circumstances to fulfill their dreams and rise up in life.

On this occasion, in addition to the above scholarships, Zhi Shan Foundation also presented 200 Tet gifts, each worth 500,000 VND, to 200 poor children in the districts of Tuong Duong, Quy Chau, Nghia Dan, Tan Ky and Yen Thanh to help them and their families have a warmer Tet.

On January 22-23,Nghe An Tourism Industry Unionwith sponsors and charity organizations, organized the program "Warm Border Tet" in 2024, giving gifts to poor households in Muong Long commune, Ky Son district.

At the People's Committee of Muong Long commune, units presented 40 Tet gifts (each worth 400,000 VND) to poor families and presented 80 million VND to support 2 families in difficult circumstances in Muong Long commune to build charity houses.

Responding to the letter calling for support and helping the poor celebrate the traditional New Year of Giap Thin 2024 of the Provincial Party Secretary,Nghia Dan District Military CommandThe organization launched and called on all cadres, soldiers and employees to use their feelings to reduce some of their spending and actively participate in supporting and helping the poor overcome difficulties to welcome the traditional New Year of Giap Thin 2024.

At the launching ceremony, nearly 20 million VND was donated and this amount will be presented by the District Military Command in coordination with the District Fatherland Front Committee, the Department of Labor, War Invalids and Social Affairs of Nghia Dan district to poor households, policy families, families with meritorious services to the revolution, families of soldiers on active duty, preparing to join the army with difficult circumstances to celebrate the traditional New Year of Giap Thin 2024.
