On the occasion of the 128th anniversary of President Ho Chi Minh's birthday (May 19, 1890 - May 19, 2018), on May 17 in Hanoi, the Central Party Committee of the Youth Union held a ceremony to award the 70-year Party membership badge to writer and journalist Son Tung - author of the novel "Blue Lotus" about the life of President Ho Chi Minh.

The ceremony took place at the private residence of writer and journalist Son Tung, with the presence of Mr. Le Quoc Phong - Alternate Member of the Party Central Committee, First Secretary of the Central Youth Union, Secretary of the Central Youth Union Party Committee; Mr. Vu Quoc Hung - Former Member of the Party Central Committee, Former Permanent Deputy Head of the Party Central Inspection Committee, Former Secretary of the Central Youth Union; Mr. Nguyen Anh Tuan - Permanent Deputy Secretary of the Central Youth Union Party Committee; journalist Le Xuan Son - Editor-in-Chief of Tien Phong newspaper and many Youth Union officials of different periods.

Writer Son Tung (91 years old), born in Nghe An, was a former reporter for Tien Phong newspaper and was sent to the Southern battlefield during the resistance war against the US. He was seriously injured and is a 1/4 class disabled veteran. In recent years, he suffered a stroke that left him unable to move and had difficulty speaking.

Despite his serious injuries, after the war, Son Tung set a shining example of creative work, as a writer with many works about leader Ho Chi Minh and other Vietnamese revolutionary and cultural celebrities, the most famous of which is the novel "Blue Lotus" about the life of President Ho Chi Minh.

In 1948, the idea of ​​learning about President Ho Chi Minh first came to young Bui Son Tung when he was working at the Nghe An Provincial Youth Union. From the years of resistance until the end of the war against the US, he made constant efforts to find witnesses related to the topic of President Ho Chi Minh.

During his writing career, writer Son Tung wrote 21 literary works, including 13 works about President Ho Chi Minh. In 2011, President of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam Nguyen Minh Triet signed Decision No. 1083/QD-CTN to award writer Son Tung as Hero of Labor in the Renovation Period.

Authorized by the leaders of the Party Committee of the central agencies, Mr. Le Quoc Phong awarded the 70-year Party membership badge to writer and journalist Son Tung, and visited and encouraged him to overcome his illness.

“Today, I am very honored to represent the Party organization to award the 70-year Party membership badge to you - a very special Party member, the honor and pride of the entire Central Youth Union Party Committee,” said Mr. Le Quoc Phong.

On behalf of the family, Ms. Phan Hong Mai - the life partner of writer Son Tung, thanked the Party Committee of the Central Agencies; the Central Party Committee of the Youth Union, the comrades in the Central Youth Union Secretariat and Tien Phong newspaper, and affirmed that this is a great source of encouragement and an honor for the family.

During the meeting, although he could not say a word, the face and eyes of writer and journalist Son Tung were very emotional. At the end of the ceremony, one of the writer's children was about to remove the badge on his shirt so he could rest, he suddenly said softly: "Leave it there".
