Mountain children bathing in the river, danger lurking

On Hieu River, the section flowing through Chau Thang (Quy Chau) and Muong Noc (Que Phong) communes..., every day many children go swimming in the river without adults accompanying them.

Recently, in Nghe An province in general and mountainous districts in particular, there have been many heartbreaking cases of children drowning.
In the mountainous district of Que Phong, in 2016, there were 6 cases of children dying from drowning. In early summer 2017, an 11-year-old male student in Muong Noc commune, Que Phong district drowned and died while bathing in a stream. Meanwhile, this area has many ponds, lakes, rivers and streams that pose a high risk of drowning for children.

Recently, on the Hieu River, the section flowing through Chau Thang Commune (Quy Chau District), every day dozens of children, both boys and girls, dive into the water without adults accompanying them. This section of the river has large, fast-flowing water, with many dangerously deep and low sections. However, these children still play carefree without foreseeing the dangers that lurk.

Also on this river, the section flowing through Muong Noc commune (Que Phong district), every day there are dozens of students going to the river to bathe. More adventurous, they even climb up high cliffs on the bank to jump into the water.

In order to avoid unfortunate consequences, parents, schools and local authorities need to strengthen management and propaganda to protect the health and lives of children.
