Over 40 hectares of summer-autumn rice in Hoang Mai suffered from root rot.
(Baonghean.vn) - Currently, along with the phenomenon of small leaf rollers on rice, more than 40 hectares of summer-autumn rice in Hoang Mai town are suffering from root rot.
Ms. Van Thi Thanh in block 11 said that this season her family planted 3 sao of TBR 225 rice. But currently, the entire rice area of Ms. Thanh's family in the Bun field is growing slowly. When pulling up the plants, the roots are black, some roots are rotten, the rice plants are stunted and have no branches.
Mr. Le Huu Kien - Director of Dai Lien Cooperative, commented: It is possible that due to the urgent summer-autumn crop production schedule, the process of milling soil, straw and stubble did not have enough time to decompose, creating toxins that cause the rice roots to turn black, become tied to the roots, leading to poor growth and unbranched rice plants. Moreover, the entire area of over 40 hectares affected by root rot is a deep, waterlogged area such as Bun field, Diec field, Cau field, Nhot field, Van field. Dai Lien Cooperative has recommended that farmers weed and stir the mud, add lime to detoxify the rice plants to help them grow stably and take root, then continue to spray superphosphate chemicals on the leaves to help the rice plants grow in time.

Regarding the phenomenon of small leaf rollers, the Cooperative also reminds farmers to visit the fields regularly, proactively bring in water, actively take care of them, weed and stir the mud, and apply fertilizers according to the age of the rice. Because the rice plants are growing strongly at this stage, small leaf rollers under 50 individuals/m2 should not be sprayed with pesticides, but if the density is over 50 individuals/m2, timely prevention and control should be done according to the recommendations of the plant protection industry. Pay special attention to monitoring the second wave of leaf rollers to have a prevention and control plan to avoid affecting the yield of summer-autumn rice crop.
How to fix rice root rot:
- Sprinkle lime powder (10-15kg lime/500m2. - Use bactericides: Kasumin, Kasuran, Starner, Sasa,..), spray in 2 doses, the second dose about 1 week after the first dose and spray according to the manufacturer's instructions. - Immediately stop fertilizing with nitrogen, increase fertilizing with fertilizers containing Silicon, Calcium, absolutely do not combine spraying foliar fertilizers containing nitrogen with pesticides. Only fertilize after the disease has been treated well, observing that the diseased area has completely dried. - It is necessary to re-check the field 3-5 days after spraying, carefully observe the underside of the rice leaves. If the diseased spots have completely dried and turned white and the rice roots have turned white, the disease has been controlled. |
