Implementing the project to develop high-quality, high-yield Vietnamese rice products
(Baonghean.vn)- Voters in Nghe An province requested the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development to research and produce drought-resistant rice and crop varieties. At the same time, continue to have a plan to maintain agricultural land with favorable irrigation conditions, and avoid building projects on production land.
Regarding this issue, the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development responded as follows:
- From 1999 to present, the Government has approved the Seed Program through the following stages: Decision No. 225/1999/QD-TTg for the period 2000-2005; Decision No. 17/2006/QD-TTg on continuing to implement Decision No. 225/1999/QD-TTg dated December 10, 1999 on the Plant, Animal and Forestry Seed Program to 2010 and Decision No. 2194/2009/QD-TTg dated December 25, 2009 approving the Seed Project to 2020.

In the field of plant varieties, the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development always prioritizes funding for projects on rice varieties in particular and plant varieties in general to develop varieties with high productivity and quality, while adapting to climate change conditions, including drought resistance.

- The Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development is implementing the national product project "High-quality, high-yield Vietnamese rice products" by 2020, in which it promotes research and selection of new rice varieties with high yield, high quality, disease resistance and adverse conditions, meeting export requirements.
