Deploying Maternal and Child Health Monitoring Book in 8 localities in Nghe An
(Baonghean.vn) - The maternal and child health monitoring book helps detect risks, diseases, obstetric complications, fetal abnormalities, abnormal signs in young children... thereby providing timely treatment.
On the morning of March 15, Nghe An Department of Health coordinated with the Department of Maternal and Child Health (Ministry of Health) to organize a conference to deploy the Maternal and Child Health Monitoring Book in Nghe An province in 2019.

In Vietnam, the Maternal and Child Health Record Book has been used since 1998 in some localities and by 2018, it had been applied in over 40 provinces and cities. The Ministry of Health expects that by 2020, all localities will have implemented the Maternal and Child Health Record Book.

The maternal and child health record book brings many practical benefits. For health workers, the book is a handbook for health workers to use to advise the community on health care for women during pregnancy, childbirth, postpartum, and care for newborns and young children; helping health workers know the medical history of children to have timely diagnosis and treatment.
For the people, the book helps mothers know how to take care of themselves during pregnancy and children up to 6 years old; helps mothers have safe pregnancy and childbirth, children are born healthy, minimizes diseases and birth defects, develops mental, physical, and motor skills; helps mothers and families detect early signs of abnormalities in children for timely treatment or go to medical facilities for assistance.

In Nghe An, in phase 1, the Maternal and Child Health Monitoring Book Program will be applied in 8 localities: Dien Chau, Quynh Luu, Nam Dan, Hung Nguyen, Tan Ky, Cua Lo Town and Vinh City.
The Department of Health and the Center for Reproductive Health of Nghe An province will deploy a document system to health agencies at all levels to gradually facilitate the implementation of the program. The program sponsor will conduct training and guidance in communes, wards, and towns and distribute books to people./.
