Exhibition "Famous Vietnamese Generals through Works of Art"
The exhibition "Famous Vietnamese Generals through Works of Art" opened on the afternoon of December 29 in Hanoi.
The event was jointly organized by the Heritage Club, the Vietnam Historical Science Association and the Military History Museum to celebrate the 70th anniversary of the founding of the Vietnam People's Army (December 22, 1944 - December 22, 2014) and towards the 40th anniversary of the complete Liberation of the South and national reunification (1975-2015).
Former General Secretary Le Kha Phieu and former Chairman of the Central Committee of the Vietnam Fatherland Front Pham The Duyet attended and cut the ribbon to open the exhibition. General Phung Quang Thanh, Minister of National Defense sent a congratulatory flower basket.

Speaking at the opening ceremony, Mr. Duong Trung Quoc, General Secretary of the Vietnam Historical Science Association, said that the exhibition "Famous Vietnamese Generals through Art Works" is an activity under the project "Vietnamese Legends" implemented by young people of the Heritage Club to contribute to promoting the historical and revolutionary values of the nation through building the image of national heroes through works of art. Through that, young people express their national pride, pride in their national origins and especially honor famous Vietnamese generals through the periods of fighting to build and defend the country.
The exhibition "Famous Vietnamese Generals through Artworks" displays many oil paintings, watercolors, photographs, statues, and portraits of famous Vietnamese generals, focusing on highlighting the images of two typical modern Vietnamese generals, heroes who led the Vietnamese People's Army to great victories in the two resistance wars against France and the US. They are General-Commander-in-Chief Vo Nguyen Giap and General Nguyen Chi Thanh.
The highlights of the exhibition are works by veteran painter Phan Ke An; lacquer portraits by painter Tran Tuan Long, and large oil portraits by painter Mai Duy Minh.
In particular, the 6-meter-long "Epic" by artist Nguyen Doan Son depicts the Vietnamese revolutionary path and the portrait of General Nguyen Chi Thanh by female author Ngo Thi Thuc made from more than 100,000 matchsticks...
At this exhibition, the Organizing Committee also displays many documentary photos about the activities of generals and senior leaders of the Party and State in the process of building the people's army, deciding on important events of the nation...
The exhibition "Famous Vietnamese Generals through Art Works" takes place at the exhibition house 45 Trang Tien until January 5, 2015.
