Beijing Auto Show 2014: Cars for the Rich Dominate
The 2014 Beijing Auto Show officially opened yesterday, April 21. This year's exhibition showcased more than 1,000 car models, including 118 of the latest models from foreign automakers.
With the rapid growth of the Chinese auto market, especially since China overtook the US as the world’s largest auto market in 2009, the Beijing Auto Show has increasingly attracted the attention of automakers. This is also an opportunity for famous automakers to introduce their latest models.

Responding to rapidly changing consumer trends in the Chinese market, many car companies such as Peugeot and Citroën of France are targeting the middle-class car market, mainly young professionals and officials living in urban areas.
Meanwhile, high-end Japanese car manufacturers such as Nissan and Toyota are competing in the luxury car market for the wealthy.
Mr. Zhang Ping, a Chinese businessman, said: "In recent years, China's economy has developed very rapidly, leading to rapid growth in the luxury car market. Owners of large corporations or businesses and senior leaders all like to own an SUV. Compared to BMW, I think this car is quite good."
In addition to Peugeot, Citroen, Lexus, a series of major car manufacturers in the world such as Mercedes-Benz, BMW, Lamborghini, Toyota, Honda, Peugeot, Citro are also gathering at this year's China auto show. The exhibition takes place from April 21 to 29, and is expected to attract 120,000 visitors per day.
