"Portrait of Vietnam" painting exhibition in Malaysia

From May 10-19, at the Art Accent gallery in the capital city of Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, Singaporean artist Choo Meng Foo organized an exhibition of paintings titled "Portrait of Vietnam" by himself.

With more than twenty watercolor paintings (mainly black and white) about contemporary life in Vietnam, artist Choo shows the peaceful daily life in this Southeast Asian country and the simplicity and rusticity of the Vietnamese people.

In the painting "A corner of the Cathedral," artist Choo reflects the moments of rest after a working day of Hanoians in sidewalk cafes with cups of coffee and iced lemonade.

In the paintings "Bicycle Shop," "Motorcycle Shop" and "Street with Many Motorcycles," the author was very impressed with the capital with many two-wheeled vehicles like this.

In particular, the image of Vietnamese women has been a source of inspiration for artist Choo. Works such as "The Street Vendor," "Two Sisters," "Little Girl on the Sea of ​​Ha Long Bay"... have depicted the portrait of Vietnamese women with their beautiful souls and hard work.

Artist Choo said he had exhibited his paintings about Vietnam in Singapore many times. But this was the first time he had brought his works abroad and had chosen Malaysia to exhibit them on the occasion of the 40th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between Vietnam and Malaysia.

He said: "I have been to Vietnam many times and visited many places such as Hue, Da Nang, Hoi An, My Tho and last year Hanoi and Ha Long Bay in Quang Ninh. Wherever I go, I am very impressed by the charming but profound beauty as well as the simplicity, gentleness and hospitality of the Vietnamese people. That is why I paint about Vietnam and decided to introduce my works to the public."

Regarding his future plans, artist Choo said he will return to visit Vietnam and the destination will be the beautiful foggy city of Sapa and of course, an art exhibition like this will be held in Vietnam, possibly in Ho Chi Minh City./.
