Documentary exhibition 'Hoang Sa, Truong Sa belong to Vietnam' in Nghe An

On the afternoon of September 14, at the Museum of Military Region 4, Vinh City, the Ministry of Information and Communications organized an exhibition of maps and documents "Hoang Sa, Truong Sa of Vietnam - Historical and legal evidence" at the Command of Military Region 4 from September 14, 2017 to September 18, 2017. Attending the exhibition were comrade Nguyen Van Tao - Director of the Department of Basic Information, Ministry of Information and Communications; Major General Tran Tien Dung - Deputy Political Commissar of Military Region 4; representatives of leaders of provincial departments, branches and sectors. |
The maps and documents displayed at the exhibition are part of the historical evidence and legal basis proving Vietnam's sovereignty over the Hoang Sa and Truong Sa archipelagos in the East Sea. The documents show that the Vietnamese state, from the feudal period to the present socialist period, has explored, established, enforced and protected national sovereignty over the Hoang Sa and Truong Sa archipelagos and many other sea and island areas belonging to Vietnam's territory. This is a continuous, long-term, peaceful process, recorded in many historical sources of Vietnam and other countries, especially documents and maps compiled and published from the 16th century to the present in Vietnam and many countries around the world.

With many documents, texts, artifacts, publications and nearly 100 maps on display, it is a collection of previously published sources of documents by domestic and international researchers and scholars.
These are versions of Han-Nom, Vietnamese and French documents issued by the Vietnamese feudal court and the French government in Indochina from the 17th to the early 20th century, affirming the process of establishing, implementing and protecting Vietnam's sovereignty over the Hoang Sa and Truong Sa archipelagos.
Versions of administrative documents issued by the Republic of Vietnam government in South Vietnam during the period 1954 - 1975 continued to affirm the process of administrative management, enforcement and protection of Vietnam's sovereignty over the Hoang Sa and Truong Sa archipelagos.

The versions of administrative documents issued by the Socialist Republic of Vietnam from 1975 to present continue to affirm the enforcement and protection of Vietnam's sovereignty over the Hoang Sa and Truong Sa archipelagos and other sea and island areas belonging to Vietnam's territory.
The exhibition displays a number of documents and publications compiled and published by Western countries from the 18th to the 19th century related to Vietnam's sovereignty over the Hoang Sa and Truong Sa archipelagos.
Documentary images of the process of implementing and protecting Vietnam's sovereignty over the Hoang Sa and Truong Sa archipelagos from the 1930s until China invaded the entire Hoang Sa archipelago with the "Hoang Sa Naval Battle" on January 19, 1974.
This exhibition displays a collection of 65 maps proving Vietnam's sovereignty over the Hoang Sa and Truong Sa archipelagos, published by Vietnam and the West from the 17th century to the present.
At the same time, research works and publications by Vietnamese and foreign scholars on Vietnam's sovereignty over the Hoang Sa and Truong Sa archipelagos published from 1975 to present are also displayed at the exhibition.

Along with that is a collection of artifacts and images about the process of exercising sovereignty and the struggle to "Protect the sovereignty of Hoang Sa and Truong Sa" introducing images and artifacts reflecting the process of fighting to protect the sovereignty of Hoang Sa and Truong Sa. Some images and documents about the economic, cultural and social development activities of Truong Sa island district during the period of industrialization and modernization of the country; Displaying some images of stamp sets.
Besides, there are some pictures about the construction and development process of Military Region 4 Command participating in the protection of sea and island sovereignty.

To date, the Ministry of Information and Communications has organized 91 exhibitions in 59 provinces and cities, 11 island locations and island districts, and 20 armed forces units.
The exhibition takes place from September 14, 2017 to September 18, 2017 at the Military Region 4 Museum, Vinh City, Nghe An.
