Prospects for mushroom production in Tan Ky
(Baonghean) - An Ha Biotechnology Joint Stock Company in Block 10, Tan Ky Town, has invested nearly 1 billion VND to build a facility specializing in the production of edible and medicinal mushrooms.
Before commencing mass mushroom production, the company sent employees to learn from successful mushroom cultivation models in northern provinces. Starting with 5,000 experimental mushroom bags, carefully cultivated according to proper technical procedures, and successfully growing and developing, the company began mass-producing various types of mushrooms such as wood ear mushrooms, white oyster mushrooms, and purple oyster mushrooms. After six months of operation, the company has produced 70,000 mushroom bags and harvested nearly 4 tons of fresh oyster mushrooms, 2 tons of wood ear mushrooms, and 20 kg of reishi mushrooms, generating revenue exceeding 150 million VND.

Mushroom cultivation requires standardized and integrated facilities, including workshops, sheds, inoculation rooms, nursery rooms, raw material warehouses, autoclaves, and drying ovens. The company produces mushrooms according to the correct technical procedures from the Plant Biotechnology Center of the Vietnam Institute of Genetics, focusing on ensuring a clean mushroom production process without using chemicals to stimulate growth. As a result, the yield and quality of mushrooms are constantly improving. Currently, the company produces an average of 1,000 mushroom bags per day and provides regular employment for 12 workers with a decent income.
Mr. Hoang Dinh Ngoc, Deputy Director of An Ha Biotechnology Joint Stock Company, said: "Based on initial success, in 2012 the company will expand its scale even further, building a seed production facility to serve both the company and a number of households in the area that need to grow mushrooms, while simultaneously transferring scientific and technical knowledge to them to improve mushroom cultivation efficiency."
The successful development of edible and medicinal mushroom production models has opened up a new occupation for farmers in Tan Ky district, suitable to the natural conditions and yielding high economic returns.
