Dismantling 9 drug trafficking and firearms rings across the border
(Baonghean.vn) - Of the 1,129 drug cases discovered and arrested by Nghe An Police since the beginning of the year, 9 cases involved large drug trafficking rings in border areas, with the subjects using firearms to fight back when surrounded and arrested.

(Baonghean.vn) - In response to the outstanding achievements of the 819C Task Force, the Ministry of Public Security and the People's Committee of Nghe An province awarded Certificates of Merit, letters and rewards to units and individuals participating in solving the case.

(Baonghean.vn) - After about an hour of gunfight, the drug gang fled into the forest, leaving behind the body of the leader and firearms.
Nghe An Provincial Police said that since the beginning of the year, the entire sector has detected and arrested 1,129 cases and 1,398 drug offenders.
Compared to the same period in 2017, there were 74 more cases, 90 more subjects, and an increase of 17 kg of heroin, 5 kg of drugs, and 48 kg of crystal meth. Of these, there were more than 50 cases and special projects with large amounts of drugs, seizing more than 162 kg of various types of drugs.

In addition to effectively fighting major drug cases, Nghe An Provincial Police is one of the leading units nationwide in eliminating illegal drug trafficking hotspots at the border.
Since the beginning of 2018, the provincial police have directed the organization to hunt down and chase away 9 groups of people carrying firearms to illegally buy and sell drugs in border districts, arresting 6 people, seizing 5 heroin cakes, 13,000 synthetic drug pills, 3 mines, 3 grenades, 1 AK gun, 29 homemade guns, 40 knives and swords.
Most recently, on October 26, Nghe An Provincial Police successfully destroyed an illegal drug trafficking den in Yen Na Commune, Tuong Duong District. Police killed 1 suspect, seized 3 heroin cakes, 12,000 synthetic drug pills, 1 AK gun, 2 grenades, and 18 bullets.

Previously, on October 15, the Traffic Police Department coordinated with Thanh Chuong District Police to arrest Nguyen Ngoc Ich (born in 1977) and Tran Dinh Hoi (born in 1884), both residing in Hanh Lam Commune, Thanh Chuong District. The police seized 30 heroin bricks from the car these two subjects were driving. The drugs were purchased by the two subjects from Laos, transported through Cau Treo border gate (Ha Tinh) and then sold.
According to the leader of Nghe An Provincial Police, the situation of drug trafficking gangs across the border using hot weapons and fiercely resisting the authorities is increasingly complicated.
