Dismantling a firecracker trafficking ring from abroad to Vietnam, seizing nearly 400 kg of explosive firecrackers
(Baonghean.vn) - The Criminal Police Department, Nghe An Police, has just presided over and coordinated with forces from other units to destroy a ring of trading, transporting, and storing firecrackers, successfully arresting 7 subjects.
Through the investigation, the Criminal Police Department, Nghe An Provincial Police discovered a suspicious ring related to the illegal trading of large quantities of firecrackers, led by Phan Van Tho (born in 1976), residing in Dien My commune, Dien Chau district.
Under the guise of a trader of consumer goods from Nghe An across the border and vice versa. Since the beginning of 2023, Phan Van Tho has purchased fireworks from abroad to Vietnam through unofficial channels and then gathered them in provinces along the border, then used a pickup truck that Tho had modified to transport the fireworks to sell to many subjects in Nghe An.
Realizing that the firecracker trafficking ring led by Phan Van Tho operated with sophisticated and professional methods and tricks, the Criminal Police Department, Nghe An Police reported to the provincial police leadership to establish a special project to fight.
Applying synchronous professional measures, on November 6, the Criminal Police Department, Nghe An Police presided over and coordinated with the Traffic Police Department, Mobile Police Department, Nghe An Police, and the police of Dien My, Dien Phong (Dien Chau), Nghi Xuan (Nghi Loc) and Nghi Duc (Vinh city) communes to deploy many working groups with dozens of officers and soldiers to simultaneously arrest and search 5 locations, successfully arresting 7 subjects for trading, transporting and storing firecrackers.
In addition to Phan Van Tho, the remaining 6 subjects arrested by the police include: Dinh Van Thanh (born in 1999), residing in Dien Yen commune, Dien Chau district; Dao Van Lanh (born in 1982), Chu Quang Anh (born in 1991), Truong Nhu Danh (born in 1982), all residing in Nghi Xuan commune, Nghi Loc district; Pham Thi Minh (born in 1993), residing in Nghi Duc commune, Vinh city and Pham Thanh Linh (born in 1996), residing in Dien Phong commune, Dien Chau district.
The police seized evidence including: 382.5 kg of various types of firecrackers; 1 car; 10 mobile phones, and many other related evidences.
At the police station, the subjects initially confessed that after Phan Van Tho bought the fireworks, he brought them to Nghe An and divided them into small pieces and gathered them at the homes of the above subjects, waiting until the end of the year, near Lunar New Year, to sell them to customers in localities in Nghe An province and neighboring areas.
Currently, the Criminal Police Department is continuing to preside over and coordinate with local police units and relevant professional departments to expand the investigation.
