On July 1st, the police dismantled a gambling ring operating during EURO 2024 and COPA AMERICA 2024, prosecuting nine individuals involved.
Previously, the Cyber Security and High-Tech Crime Prevention Department of the Lam Dong Provincial Police discovered a group of individuals involved in online gambling and organizing gambling activities, and therefore coordinated with the Da Lat City Police to gather documents and evidence for investigation.
On June 23, authorities caught Cao Dinh Toan (born in 1976, residing in Ward 3, Da Lat City) red-handed while organizing gambling activities.bettingonline football.
The suspect confessed that his online football betting account was provided by Pham Thi Hong Van (born in 1982, residing in Ward 7, Da Lat City). Toan then directly provided his sub-accounts to four other individuals to organize football betting.
Expanding the investigation, the Cyber Security and High-Tech Crime Prevention Department of the Lam Dong Provincial Police summoned, strengthened the case file, and initiated criminal proceedings, arresting and detaining seven more individuals involved in a football betting ring during EURO 2024 and COPA AMERICA 2024.
The group admitted to organizing and participating in gambling activities, specifically football betting, with transaction values exceeding 16 billion VND within a month. The police also seized over 354 million VND in cash, 9 mobile phones, 2 laptops, and 1 desktop computer.
