This is a drug trafficking line illegally transporting Ketamine from Vietnam to a third country for consumption, worth nearly 500 billion VND.

On the morning of May 12, the Ministry of Public Security held a press conference to break up Project 719DL, seizing nearly 500 kg of crystal meth, worth nearly 500 billion VND.

On the afternoon of May 11, the Ho Chi Minh City Customs Department coordinated with the Special Police Battalion No. 2 - Mobile Police Command, the Professional Departments of the Ministry of Public Security; the Police of the districts in Ho Chi Minh City, namely Binh Tan, Tan Phu, Binh Chanh; the Drug Crime Investigation Police Department of Binh Duong Provincial Police to successfully destroy a drug trafficking and illegal transportation ring of nearly 500 kg of drugs led by Taiwanese (Chinese) subjects.

One subject in the line was arrested.

Mr. Pham Van Cac - Director of the Drug Crime Investigation Police Department - Ministry of Public Security, said that this is a drug trafficking line of Ketamine from Vietnam to a third country for consumption (worth nearly 500 billion VND). Ketamine is a rare drug, has extremely strong effects, and is absorbed many times faster than other drugs.

The investigation team arrested the ringleader Liu Minh Yang (Taiwanese) and his accomplices Jhu Minh Jyun (born 1987, Taiwanese), Nguyen Thi Thu Van (Jhu Minh Jyun's girlfriend), and To Gia My (Chinese nationality).

The modus operandi of this ring was that Liu Minh Yang directed Jhu Minh Jyun to enter Vietnam on March 14, then transport 4 presses to a warehouse in Binh Tan district to hide the drugs.

Because the functional forces of the Ministry of Public Security and the Ho Chi Minh City Customs Department have been fighting fiercely and have arrested many drug cases in the past, Liu Minh Yang directed Jhu Minh Jyun to move the goods to a new warehouse in Binh Chanh District. While carrying out the transportation, he was caught red-handed by the Task Force.

Mr. Dinh Ngoc Thang, Director of the Ho Chi Minh City Customs Department, said that the project was established in September 2018, in addition to the main participation of the Ho Chi Minh City Customs force and the Ministry of Public Security, there was also coordination from other functional forces.

"The subjects frequently change their residence... so the task force encounters many difficulties in the investigation" - Mr. Thang said.
