Dismantling pangolin breeding, confinement and trading ring
The seized evidence included 215 pangolins with a total weight of about 700kg, a species on the list of endangered, precious, rare species prioritized for protection (group IIB).
At around 3:00 p.m. on January 16, at Mr. Tran Trung Thanh's house (Cong Thuong village, Son Kim 1 commune, Huong Son district, Ha Tinh), the Department of Investigation Police on corruption, economic crimes, and smuggling of the Ministry of Public Security presided over and coordinated with the Mobile Police Command, the Ha Tinh Border Guard Command, the Cau Treo Border Gate Customs Sub-Department, the Cau Treo Border Gate Border Guard Station, and the Ha Tinh Provincial Police caught 9 people red-handed transporting, raising, and confining pangolins.

The seized exhibits included 215 pangolins with a total weight of about 700kg, a species on the list of endangered, precious, rare species prioritized for protection (group IIB) according to regulations in Appendix I, Decree No. 160/2013/ND-CP dated November 12, 2013 of the Government.
The subjects include Tran Thi Thanh Tam (born in 1973), Nguyen Thi Huong (born in 1974), all residing in Cong Thuong village, Son Kim 1 commune; Nguyen Thi Thuy Huong (born in 1973), residing in block 4, Tay Son town; Nguyen Cong Dan (born in 1974), Nguyen Anh Sao (born in 1994), all residing in Khi Tuong village, Son Tay commune; Dau Xuan Hung (born in 1977, residing in Kim Thanh village, Son Tay commune); Nguyen Thi Chinh (born in 1977), Nguyen Thi Quyen (born in 1970), Nguyen Huu Chien (born in 1975), all residing in Ha Chua village, Son Tay commune.

Conducting an emergency search of the residence of Nguyen Thi Huong, Nguyen Thi Thuy Huong and Vo Van Tam (born 1971), residing in block 5, Tay Son town, Huong Son district (Ha Tinh), it was discovered at Vo Van Tam's residence a bamboo shoot-shaped object (weighing 1kg) which the subject confessed was ivory.

The case is under further investigation and handling according to the provisions of law.
