Eliminate drug trafficking hotspots using hot weapons on the Nghe An border
(Baonghean.vn) - At around 1 a.m. on April 23, police and border guards began to surround and attack illegal drug trafficking locations using firearms on the Vietnam-Laos border.

Recently, in the border area of Tuong Duong district (Nghe An), a number of groups of people have appeared, setting up camps and forming gathering places to illegally retail drugs.
Faced with that situation, Nghe An Provincial Police directed Tuong Duong District Police to co-chair with the Drug Crime Investigation Department, coordinate with the Mobile Police Department of Nghe An Provincial Police and Nhon Mai Border Guard Station to concentrate forces to carry out the eradication.

At 1:00 a.m. on April 23, 2019, at Xop Chinh stream in the border area between Nhon Mai commune and Mai Son commune, Tuong Duong district, the authorities surrounded, attacked, and chased away a group of foreigners who were illegally buying and selling drugs and using firearms.
When the authorities surrounded the area, due to the rugged mountainous terrain and difficult access, the suspects quickly escaped into the deep forest.
At the scene, the authorities seized 1 AK gun, 10 bullets, 1 homemade gun, 50 grams of various drugs and many other household items.

Authorities also demolished shacks and camps used by the subjects to illegally buy and sell drugs.
At the same time, Tuong Duong District Police, together with professional units, continued to surround and destroy 5 illegal drug retail points, arrested 8 subjects; seized 2.35 grams of heroin; and 1 homemade hunting gun.
