Authorities dismantled a drug trafficking ring that was "disguised" in cosmetic boxes.
The Narcotics Crime Investigation Department of the Nghe An Provincial Police has just dismantled a drug trafficking and trading ring that used the method of disguising drugs in cosmetic boxes and transporting them via North-South passenger buses.
Through intelligence gathering, authorities discovered a drug trafficking ring involving Ho Viet Dao (born in 1995), residing in Hamlet 8, Nghi Dien, Nghi Loc Commune (Nghe An Province), and Nguyen Thi Thao (born in 2001), residing in Trung Do 3 Block, Truong Vinh Ward (Nghe An Province). The suspects operated discreetly, exploiting inter-provincial shipping via passenger buses to deliver and receive drugs, concealing them in cosmetic boxes with foreign labels.
Given the complexity of the case, the Drug Crime Investigation Department reported the matter to the provincial police leadership.Establish a special task force to combat the crime., eradicate.
At approximately 3 PM on December 21, 2025, the Drug Crime Investigation Police Department, in coordination with the Than Linh Commune Police, apprehended Ho Viet Dao red-handed, seizing a styrofoam box containing 5 boxes of cosmetics with 1 kg of ketamine inside.
Expanding the investigation, the police arrested Nguyen Thi Thao and searched her residence, seizing two plastic bags containing 50g of ketamine and 35 ecstasy pills.
At the investigative agency, both suspects admitted to their crimes. Currently, the case is still under investigation and will be processed according to the law.
